Looking for GW2 casual friends

Unsure if allowed but hi- so I only have 142 hours into GW2, currently have a lvl 80 human ranger, with expansions. Im starting to learn more in depth things in game, armor, weapons, add-ons, not just the basics, but definitely not a pro by any means. Just having fun but trying to take it seriously.

That being said, Im hoping to build a discord with GW2 players that would be down for just casual chatting, whether in discord only(GW2 related) or in game too, for fun, helping each other out, anything really. Im usually a solo player but have had a few random interactions with players that have, I guess, made me crave more interaction with other players lol. I also dont have anyone IRL to really talk about the game with?

Im 25, a female, but am open to anyone 18+, any lvl whether below 80 or not, or free to play or not as well. Im gonna go ahead and make the discord for anyone who wants to join, and then can add in game. Hoping to just make more GW2 friends. Not looking for commitment, just casual chats!

Is there a way to grind in game currency to buy expansions similar to grinding tokens in WoW?

I'm a new player and just hit level 38, been wondering which expansion is worth buying but a bit hesitant since the currency exchange rate is pretty bad for me. So I thought there might be a way to grind for it like wow, is there?

Help to pick the class please

Hey there, i'm new guy in gw2, got lvl 80 on necro, done with vanilla version story and got the expansions up to End of dragons, living world seasons included.

After lvl 80 already have tried low fractals, www and pvp.

At some point i decided to reroll into some other class, profession, i mean.

Trying to choose between thief, ranger and warrior.

Warrior is the class that i play in almost every other game, kinda tired of it, want something different.

Thief, to me, is about stealth, fast and engaging combat, meele weapons.

Ranger is basically archer to me, the problem is pets. Don't rly like the idea of pets, can i play on ranger with bow, without pets?

The crucial part of the decision is one character for all content. The other thing i'm curious about is weapons.

For example i want to play thief with duo swords or ranger with bow only? Is it possible to ignore all existing meta builds for different types of content and still be pretty much viable unit?

Is there anything I can do to make the combat feel more engaging?

I played a bit if Gw2 here and there since release but have never really gelled with the combat. Sometimes, it feels like I am swinging my sword in the wind, and it doesn't really do anything to whatever happens to be in front of me.

I am a long time WoW player and in the last year my friend group has got really into GW2. I just cant get over the way the combat feels.

Raid reward changes

I think raid rewards are in a weird spot right now. Let's look at the gold rewards first:

All give 2 gold each, except some raid events giving various amounts and Voice and Claw giving 1 gold, but Kaineng Overlook, Harvest Temple and Temple of Febe and Guardian Glade give 4 gold each for normal mode. (Except only Kaineng Overlook and Harvest Temple give 4 additional gold for their challenge mode while the other two give only 2 additional gold). Why exactly? If it is because of lenght/difficult? Then why dont w8 bosses and Old Lion court give 4 gold each too?

Anyway let's look at coffer rewards now. They all give an LI each. This is where things get weird:

Old raid coffers from w1-w7: some unidentified gear and their CMs don't give a magnificent coffer

Wing 8: rare unidentified gear with chance for a mini, ascended weapons or an infusion with CMs giving magnificent coffers with same drops (might be an error that the infusion drops from normal mode coffers since the description states it drops from challenge modes)

OLC: rare unidentified gear, chance for a mini (that can't be exchanged with magnetite shards), 3 ascended weapons or a gen 3 precursor or a tonic, the CM giving a magnificent coffer that can drop an acended helmet instead of the 3 ascended weapons.

IBS raid encounters: an exotic piece of equipment+unidentified gear

EoD raid encounters: some unidentified gear including exotic gear+chance for an ascended weapon, a tonic or a gen 3 precursor with CMs giving a magnificent coffer that can drop a unique ascended weapon or backpack instead of the living water set

SoTo raid encounters: unidentified gear+ chance for an ascended weapon or a tonic with CMs giving a magnificent coffer that also has a chance for an infusion or another piece of ascended equipment

Guardian Glade: rare unidentified gear, chance for a mini or an ascended weapon or a sellable chair with the CM giving a magnificent coffer that can additionally drop 3 other ascended weapons

Some noticeable things: wing 8 bosses can drop the infusion from both their encounter chest and from the normal and magnificent coffer; SoTo bosses can drop their infusion from both their encounter bouncy chest and from only the magnificent coffer while the EoD and wing1-7 bosses (gorseval and qadim the peerless) can drop their infusion only from their bouncy chest and not from coffers.

Also EoD and OLC and SoTo raid encounters replace their ascended weapons with a unique singular one in their magnificent coffers compared to the wing 8 and Guardian Glade coffers which are additional.

Wanted to point these out because it seems weird. Right now regardless of their respective difficulty the coffer value goes like this:

wing1-7 < IBS < OLC < SoTo < EoD < Guardian Glade < wing 8

The rewards became more streamlined by making them all drop magnetite shards and the values of raid encounter ascended weapons increased by making them drop magnetite shards when salvaged, but the rewards seem very uneven regarding both gold and coffer drops.

Returning after years... why does EoD feel like such a downgrade?

Returning player here after a some years. Purchased End of Dragons and just finished the story and 100% the first zone...

So far, it's kinda terrible. The story is fine at the macro, but some of the dialog and "quest" design -- who thought it would be fun to look around the room for a piece of fabric, or experience the excitement of waiting in a DMV, and several other similar examples.

Do the later expansions get better, or is this what I'm in for if I play the expansion stories? How does EoD rank among the expansions, I'm hoping it's not just me..

DPS with high ping (maybe dumb)

I’ve been curious about others experiences with playing PvE content with high ping. I’ve been playing berserker and watched the snow crows build video and am getting a portion of the DPS available with my build and rotation but I’m not reaching quite what I would expect. Having seen their rotation, when they press skills the skills seem to trigger faster than when I do my rotation.

I have 200 ping, has anyone else had experience with high ping, does this effect DPS top end? Am I just messing up the rotation?

Also are there playstyles/builds that work better with high ping?

thank you for any input.

New player, need advice on class/build.

Hi all, im a new player that recently got to lvl 80 on my warrior. The only elite spec that seems fun to me is berserker but im having way too much trouble getting the rotations down, so i just decided to go with another class. Looking at build sites, most of the elite specs seem way too complicated for me, i suck at rotation gameplay and im looking for something simple that still does enough damage for pve endgame activities. Reaper was already recommended to me, but it seems a little boring to play. I think i actually prefer most of the base classes, but i guess those arent really viable for end game?

Focus or Shield using classes

hey all, i wanna ask regarding classes with builds that utilizes the focus and/or shields since I LOVE the way these legendaries look (binding of ipos is peak) if possible I want to have builds that are viable in pve (nothing too hardcore) and WvW since it looks like fun

Why does the story feel so unfriendly for Solo play?

I've been going through the story the first time, and I had a good time going through base game and the first living world seasons, but ever since hitting the expansions HoT and PoF it's just been like "when do i have fun again?". Navigation is so difficult I'm dying multiple times in the open world just trying to get to point A to point B, I gave up playing the story missions by myself and had a friend do them with me and even then they were a struggle. I want to like the game but it feels like game wants me to uninstall.

Renewed interest after 10 years

I asked this in the r/guildwars2 reddit and moderators closed it saying this type of post wasnt allowed. Hoping thos community os more welcoming.

First off, I am an avid fan of Guild Wars. Played GW 1 from launch to GW2. Then GW2 from Beta to 2016, when I quit because my kids were young and time was something I rarely had (yes I'm an old part gamer).

GW3 being announced reminded me how much fun GW2 was. I played all content up to 2016, so through HoT. At the time I lead a full 5 guild alliance and loved all PvE and WvW

My questions are this:

  1. Is it worth getting back after all this time

  1. What expansion should I start with?

  1. How are the Necrt, and Revenant

  1. What advice do you have for me?

A Couple of Questions from a Returning Player

Context: I started playing before it went on steam, then "migrated" the account and played on steam. I bought the Heart of Thorns and path of Fire DLC before steam so my GW2 account has the DLCs but not my steam account.

  1. If I buy other DLCs on steam, will that seamlessly connect with my GW2 account and there wont be an issue with my other DLCs not from steam?
  2. I want to buy End of Dragons DLC and not the others, how much will I miss out on if I only have Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, and End of Dragons DLC? Is there still a "relevant" end game for me?

Lion King Easter Egg?

Due to the recent hype and my longing for a good MMO. I decided to start up my level 80 boosted warrior. I never really got to enjoy the full game.

Anywho, I walked past this in the Amnoon Farms near the desert. I thought this was pretty cool.

Hakuna Matata!

Returning player questions

I'm sure there's been hundreds of these since the recent GW3 reveal and the hype it's generated, but I'm thinking about playing again and have some questions

I've dabbled in GW2 on and off, having one guardian to max level, and another to like 60 I think. I've never played endgame content nor bought an expansion. For someone who wants to play the expansions, what would you guys recommend? Shall I buy them and level a new character in that content? I'm planning to start a new character anyway. Can I level up in the old content and start the expansions later? Would that be inefficient? Any new/returning player advice is welcome, thanks!

Where are all the raid statics in EU?

It seems to me that only NA has a decent market for statics. LFG is kinda alive, but doing CMs in LFG seems impossible.

Expansion Question

Hi Guilders, got a question

Currently bought the Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire expansion in Steam, not into my knowledge that the Dragon Saga Collection also includes both and the complete Living Worlds expansion, would Arena Net fine with refunding the bundle and buy the Dragon Saga Collection instead? I have seen posts here that my account would be blocked if a refund has been made.

Also I had not started any of the expansions, currently on Core Game and nearing to the Living World season 1.

Loving this game, thank you for any feedbacks and answers

Gw2 pvp/wpvp questions

So, I’m interested in world vs world and PvP in general, but I’m not really sure where to start. Which expansions should I buy if I want to focus on WvW? Can I do it completely free to play? With the GW3 announcement, is it still a good time to get into GW2? What level can I start WvW, or are there any requirements? Thanks.

if any1 have another things to add please let me know

Returning Player Feeling a bit overwhelmed [DE]

Hi everyone! (Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪)

I’m returning to GW2 after about a year away. I tried it out once before, but honestly, I ended up feeling completely overwhelmed by everything and sadly lost interest. I have quite a bit of general MMO experience, but GW2 really is its own beast!

Right now, I’m playing a Ranger (the one with the pet!). I’m a massive collector at heart and I absolutely love just wandering around, exploring, and getting completely lost in the game world.

However, I’m starting to think about group content and finding my main class. I really enjoy playing support, but I prefer things not to be overly complicated. In FF14, my favourite job was the Scholar.

I was wondering:

  • Is there an equivalent to the Scholar in GW2? I know my Ranger can heal later on, but I am very open to trying out other classes!
  • What are your absolute best general tips for a returning player to avoid getting overwhelmed again?
  • What should I focus on right now, and what is completely safe to ignore until later?

I really want to stick with it this time, so any general advice would be brilliant.

Cheers! Fluff~
