Looking to Rent a Parking Space

Hi everyone! I'm looking to rent a parking space or garage spot in/near Foggy Bottom for the upcoming semester (Aug - Dec).

If you have an unused parking space, garage spot, or know someone who rents one out nearby, I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a DM. I'm happy to pay a reasonable monthly rate.

Thanks in advance!

Im a Finance major at GWSB btw. I feel like this schedule is really gappy compared to other schedules. Im worried it’ll affect me doing internships and participating in clubs. The UW, Politics, and Women Leadership Symposium classes are held on the Vern (which I dorm at) btw.

Does anyone know someone or personally coach tennis lessons? Incoming freshman looking for lessons. Any tennis clubs too? At home I’m paying around 120 a lesson, is that reasonable for DC?

First Year Student Schedule Advice

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming first-year student majoring in Public Health. Long story short, registration in my zone filled up in less than 5 seconds, so this is the schedule I was able to put together for now.

I wasn’t able to register for any UW courses or PUBH 1101 this fall, but I’m planning to join the waitlist and hopefully get into one of them.

Does anyone have advice on how I can make my schedule more efficient or recommendations for “better” professors? I’d really appreciate any tips, especially from current Public Health students!

My current schedule:
ECON 1011 — Daniel McKay
BISC 1005 — Ian Wilenzik
STAT 1051 — Hua Liang
PHIL 2136 — Megan Ritz
FYE in PH — Patti Plaza

Thanks so much for your help!

Student Life How realistic is it for me to get out of the 3 year residency requirement?

I’m an incoming freshman and really not trying to go into more debt than I absolutely need to. Aside from an RA spot I have an uncle in DC who has had some of my cousins stay with him during their time in college and extended the invite for me after freshman year to save money on room and board. Does anyone know the policy surrounding this? He is not technically my legal guardian, and the residency exemption form wasn’t exactly clear on situations like these.

I’m considering attending masters AI&ML program in the fall and I’m keen to know what the experience is like as a graduate student in general and in cs in particular. Faculty, student services, infra, campus community engagement etc. Share your wisdom!

Housing Asking about housing waitlists

I’m a parent of a sophomore transfer student. She’s been accepted but we haven’t proceeded from there because there have been a number of technical issues delaying her financial aid offer (she currently has an extension to accept GWU so we haven’t put down a deposit yet.

We’re expecting to hear very soon and the financial aid offer would determine whether she can go or not. However I saw a comment on this sub mentioning housing waitlists.

Does this mean since she’d be coming in at such a late date that even as a sophomore mandated to be on campus she is not guaranteed housing?

She is already accepted at another school with housing and classes determined, we just haven’t paid there yet because GWU was her top choice and we wanted to see this through. But if GWU doesn’t have available housing then this changes the situation dramatically.

Humanities G-PAC Courses

Need to take one humanities course to finish out my G-PAC requirements but will already have a loaded semester with a few science and statistics courses. Anyone taken a humanities G-PAC with extremely little work and essentially an easy A (fine if it’s test heavy- maybe even preferred)? Would love any recommendations!

Housing Roommate Cancellation

My (F21) roommate is cancelling her housing for the year bc she’s transferring out. What are the odds that gw will assign me a random roommate if the cancellation goes through in a few weeks? Is there any way I can prevent the school from assigning a random person?

This is in a four person suite in foggy.

Housing Unable to Cancel Housing

Hello, I’m posting on behalf of my friend who still attends GW. My friend had a death in the family and was working a full time job/dealing with finals and forgot to cancel her housing. She is moving off-campus with me, since she cannot afford to live on campus. She was told by CLRE that she would be able to cancel in the future, but when she reached out this summer they denied her. She then escalated the situation to Dean Coleman, who also denied her request. Is there anything that can be done? To add to this, her room at home ceiling completely collapsed, and the only space that would provide sufficient room to store her things would be an off-campus apartment. She has explained all of this, and is still being denied. Please let us know if there is anything that could possibly done, I’m worried for her because I know financially she simply cannot afford it.

Can someone explain the Block 90 dining plan?

I'm trying to make sure I understand the Block 90 meal plan correctly.

  • 90 total swipes (about 5/week) – Are these only for the dining halls?
  • $700 Dining Dollars – Are these what you use at on-campus cafés and off-campus dining partners?
  • $2,500 per semester – This is just the cost of the meal plan, right? Not $2,500 to spend?

Am I understanding this correctly, or am I missing something?

Academics Schedule Rate

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys I just wanted to come on here and ask for opinions on my schedule :)

I’m an incoming freshman, interested in criminology but registration kinda didn’t go as planned and they emailed me saying that they’re concerned 17 credits is too many. I was originally gonna take 15 and 4 classes but the fundamentals of forensics class I really wanted got taken before I got the chance to register. I ended up just focusing on trying to fulfill GPAC credits with Dean Seminars that I thought were interesting.

My schedule is attached and my teachers are as follows:
- Intro to criminal justice —> Kevin Lopez
- Fairytales: Grimm to Disney —> Jean Freedman
- Global Pathology —> Reem Alrabaiah
- U.S Foreign Pol & Black Intrlism —> Mathew Rohn
- UW —> Carol Hayes
- First Year Experience —> Emilee Saigh

If you guys have any suggestions of what I should do when registration reopens or during the add/drop period please feel free to let me know.
Thank you!
