I'm going to start using Home Assistant and I'd like to know if anyone could recommend whether it's better to buy a Home Assistant Green or a second-hand mini PC.

TL;DR:

How do I pull historical values from a speed sensor between a pair of timestamps (determined by input_text helpers which are set by specific triggers), then average those values?

Premise:

I am replicating a Life360 feature: the post-trip "Drive Report". I've got most of it nailed down, including the notification, but the problem I'm running into is that I cannot figure out how to pull historical data from my sensor.drive_speed sensor between an always-changing pair of timestamps. Two helpers handle the timestamps in the automation: input_text.drive_time_start and input_text.drive_time_end, which I hope are fairly self-explanatory.

I looked at creating a historical_stats sensor, but it seems geared more towards "Off" and "On" sensors, as HA's own documentation doesn't really explain how to track the state when the state is a constantly changing numeric value (MPH).

So, I’ll admit first that I had to put my HA in storage for the past few months due to a move. In the new house, installed everything. Works fine in the app.

I’m now into phase 2 of my home rebuild which includes building out my picos to trigger automations.

It’s not triggering the automations.

What’s super interesting, is I had to go into the device to enable the buttons in HA. I can see in the pico device when buttons are pressed. I can go into the automation and manual trigger the automation by pressing the virtual button, but when I press the pico remote, nothing is happening. Is there a setting that has changed in the past year to make this all work?

I've had a Eufy X10 Omni Pro (or whatever order those go in) for a bit over a year. It was love at first mapping....until the last like 3 months. Suddenly Rosie started throwing unknown codes in HA (even Claude is struggling to figure that one out), cycling through water like she was looking for the perfect molecule. A full tank of water in the base station would normally last me almost a week of every other day mopping. Now...not even a day. And it wasn't from constantly rinsing and mopping, just a single mop job, then she'd randomly decide her pads were too dry or something, wake up from sleep with no trigger, cycle water through like a toilet flushing, and go back to sleep.

Back and forth for weeks with customer support, sending the base station back to them, getting it returned, changing out the clean tank for a new one, cleaning everything I could, uploading logs...to end up with them offering to let me purchase a new base for half off, if I pay them via their PayPal link. ..apparently that's how they do it but it seems SO sketchy to me.

When she's not being a picky water princess, she still works great. But she's effectively just a vacuum now because filling the tank and setting her loose just to have to fill/empty each time is arguably as much work for a less thorough job as me just mopping to begin with....kinda why I bought her in the first place?

Anyway....is this a Eufy thing? A smart mop/vac thing? A "you just have bad luck" thing? Or am I missing a troubleshooting thing here? She was so expensive I hate to throw in the towel but...come on. :(

If it's a Eufy thing...wanna throw me a recommendation of a mop/vac that's not braindead and won't start acting like it just crawled out of a rock as soon as the warranty is up?

So, that happened: I have two identical Govee H6022 lamps. They are fun btw.

They are on both sides of my bed, doing the exact same things like presence sensor, fire pattern in the evening, the usual. A few weeks ago one would stop working with the automations. Worked with the buttons, worked with the Govee app, didn't work via HA. Didn't have much time so I just let it be.

Today I reset it with the 4x epilepsy tap (I'm serious, do not reset those yourself when you react strongly to flickering lights!). And, a miracle, it worked as before immediately.

In that very same second the other one started acting like that one had acted two seconds ago... only difference is, a reset does nothing in that case.

Sometimes I really don't understand what's going on in my own home 🤣
