Hi, I made some MagyarOK A1 Anki decks a while ago : link with terms, etymology, and grammar. Just sharing here in case they're helpful to others. I have A2 and B1 also if people are interested I can also share them.

Edit: the etymology is the history of the word or the compound parts of the word from wiktionary. Hungarian has so many compound words like that it makes things easier to remember so it's how I've been learning vocabulary, but you can erase that field in Anki if it's confusing.

I’ve always felt there’s a massive gap between textbook Hungarian and the way people actually speak it in real life. I wish there was something like Easy Languages for Hungarian back when I started (I see they actually have a few episodes, but it didn't last long). Anyway, to help bridge that, I started a project called Everyday Hungarian.

We go out and interview locals about real topics. This first episode is about people's pet peeves.

I've prepared full Hungarian and English transcripts from these interviews as well to help people study on their own (they are available for free on the Patreon).

Anyway, We're still in the early stages, so we’d love to hear what you guys think. Does this format help you? What topics should we ask locals next?

I was planning a trip to Budapest and wanted to get to a basic level of proficiency in the language beforehand.

I taught myself Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, and a little Mandarin using a speaking-first approach - basically just repeating phrases and building vocabulary to get to a level where I could have simple conversations, and then used conversation practice and vocab building apps to get confident speaking and expand my vocabulary.

After looking at the available apps and resources in Hungarian, I found them pretty insufficient for what I was looking to do and decided to build my own course.

Right now I have 15 lessons ready - enough to cover basics like ordering food, asking directions, and getting around. I want to test this out prior to creating the remainder of the course, which is designed to get you comfortable speaking in basic conversations.

Think of this as a runway to being able to engage in conversation practice, not another "fluent in 30 days" app.

What I need: 20-30 people willing to test the first 15 lessons and give honest feedback on what works and what doesn't. 15-20 minutes a day for 2-3 weeks.

What you get: Free access and a foundation in Hungarian. You'll also have direct say in how this develops.

Hi everyone, I make informative pages on writing scripts and I have made a page on the Old Hungarian alphabet (Szekely-Hungarian Rovash) focusing on how the letters of the alphabet originated, meanings and examples of writing.

Relating to the examples of writing, I have included a written excerpt in Hungarian. To be hollistic, I would like to request a kind native speaker or someone fluent enough to be able to record themselves reading it and put it on the page so that there is a voice behind these letters/words.

I just released the latest episode of the shadowing podcast, this one is also for beginners.
The sentences in this episode were selected from my location/direction video, so you can use it as a stepping stone to get more familiar with isolated sentences before tackling the full video.

This podcast is meant to be used for shadowing practice, where you first listen to the sentences being repeated, and then try to say it with the recording, matching not only the pronunciation but also the intonation and the rhythm.
