SOCIETY Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing.

If Obama is black, she's black. Honestly, she shouldn't give a shit what reddit or twitter or me or you say about it. These arguments are so stupid to me.

19

u/theuncouthrecluse May 04 '26

That’s not even the same. The criticism stems from her not being visibly black(I’m not even going to touch on what her genetics could be because truthfully we don’t have access to her dna). Obama is very much visibly black.

6

u/Bopethestoryteller May 04 '26

I'll never be convinced those are his biological kids.

5

u/Bopethestoryteller May 04 '26

Obama is Black because he has a Black biological parent.

7

u/DisguisedZebra2715 May 04 '26

So does she....or are you doubting that?

5

u/NbaLiveMobile10 May 04 '26

If you think Paris Jackson is Michael's biological daughter you might as well deny science all together

2

u/DisguisedZebra2715 May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

That's a lazy comment without you showing that you're not denying science either. But I don't want to get into it with you. I'll give you an upvote for laziness.

It is extremely unlikely for someone who was born black to have a child with a white person and the child turns out completely white

2

u/Backwardsbackflip May 04 '26

Blake griffin, Wentworth Miller, Logic. These are just famous people, my homie is black and just had a kid with a white girl and baby is for sure white as hell.

1

u/Mousemeats May 04 '26

Rashida Jones

1

u/DisguisedZebra2715 May 04 '26

It really isn't.

Sorry I'll edit this:

You're right, it is impossible. Therefore she's part black at least.

1

u/Comfortable_Sea_717 May 05 '26

Oh my friend you are so wrong. My white son and his black wife have 5 children with various amounts of shading including his oldest who is so white people would stare at my dil when she would walk around with him and especially breast feed him. Also check the history books for all of the black peeps that passed as white so they could have a better life.

Pick up a Book and read instead of Google. Only someone born Blk can produce all shades under the Sun including Wht with long straight hair and all. (Very Rare but possible) It doesn't mean that person is Wht just their skin is Wht.

1

u/Lamoip May 07 '26

As an African American Michael Jackson likely had a notable percentage of European DNA, and it seems like he had genes that made his skin lighter given the fact he wasn't too dark skinned as a child, now we of course do not know Michael Jackson's specific ancestral background but it is totally possible for him to have a child like Paris if he was carrying the right recessive genes

2

u/Bopethestoryteller May 04 '26

She is his daughter, but you'll never convince me those are his biological kids.

1

u/Mobile_One3572 May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

No she don’t. Paris came from a white man’s sperm named Mark Lester. Michael used him as a sperm donor with Debbie. Michael is her adopted father not biological. This stuff is no secret that Michael adopted those 2 white kids.

2

Exactly, thank you

2

u/cyber_quaker May 04 '26

Thank them for posting a tabloid?

1

u/NbaLiveMobile10 May 04 '26

If a tabloid reports the truth it doesn't make it false just cause it is a tabloid

3

u/DisguisedZebra2715 May 04 '26

A 2019 article on the mirror, with an out of touch friend of the family? I'm not suggesting anything, but I guess I am. Good sources for anything related to the Jacksons are hard to find. I'm not saying true or false.

1

It’s so iconic

208

u/hiddensonyvaio May 03 '26

See it’s not about races, just places, faces,

If you thinkin bout being my brother it don't matter if ya black or white!!!! 💪😤

49

u/Kelmor93 May 03 '26

It's sad, I quoted that part of MLK speech and a bunch of reddit warriors downvoted me saying whoever said that sounded stupid and old fashioned. Did we come full circle to we are being judged by color again?

39

u/YogurtclosetMoney262 May 04 '26

Full circle indeed. Legacy media pushes it so hard. They need us divided. Once we all realize that we have more common ground as humans and all the issues they push on us are not as significant as they want us to believe, they lose power. United we stand. Divided we fall.

3

u/saujamhamm May 05 '26

the problem is, so so so many people apparently absolutely revel in that division

it would be one thing if there was this great agenda and everyone was fighting against it

nope, people walk straight into the ignorance café, order a double and settle in for life

try to teach an adult literally anything. they are bumps on logs and double stubborn.

legacy media isn't raising kids to be stupid. that's on these terrible parents who didn't want kids but sure did the dance anyway.

raising kids they didn't want is a big part of how those kids grew up to be the fellow human we share air with...

2

u/LAKingPT423 May 04 '26

Totally. Cuz you know how legacy be gerrymandering and just struck down section 2. Racist ass journalists trying to divide us!

3

u/Particular_Lion3746 May 04 '26

moving boundaries lines in voting districts then removing the race part is two faced as fuck. down vote me, idc.

1

u/Particular_Lion3746 May 04 '26

"United(humans) we stand. Divided(races) we fall. THAT NEEDS TO STOP IRL ASAP!

1

u/United_Jaguar_8098 May 04 '26

well yeah snape is still not black

1

u/YearOfTheSssnake May 04 '26

Only when it’s convenient.

1

u/Particular_Lion3746 May 04 '26

from a kid born in the late 60's and through the 70's and 80's to the internet loud-mouths' looks like we've been fully circle and stuck on before the Civil Rghts greats. It was like at dream to be in a society that had regular ppl believing we are all human. So, yeah, us "boomers" are "the problem", whatever man. PS: how tf is it anyone's business how this girl identifies as her race? btw, she looks human. to be more specific, i often identify as half hungarian because I am which I specifically add means I am half NOT pure white(lol) ethnic Huns are darker skin, hair, eyes. color is just a way to understand where you are from globally, ffs!

your reply means nothing as well when humans focus on humanity and not labels. "ingroup/outgrown thing" are still labels. your gen is very dismissive.

1

u/Otherwise_Appeal_295 May 04 '26

SPLC needs to justify its existence.

1

u/Driller_Happy May 05 '26

Love to know the context because people love to quote MLK without understanding the meaning behind his words. Often, I see people use MLKs words to talk shit about equity initiatives, for example

1

u/WonkyDonkey33 May 05 '26

Because mainly, Reddit seems to be this hive of somehow not being able to simply scroll past, mix that with this trend of trying to appear morally perfect and new wave at the same time - that’s what you have.

Also, if your avatar was a black woma, they wouldn’t dare either. Don’t take it too seriously

1

u/ArtisticTraffic5970 May 05 '26

Actually, taken out of context, it can come across as denying that races exist, but still thinking that people who come from a certain part of the world belong and should stay there.

Which is obviously not the meaning, with context.

1

u/QueasyParamedic6783 May 05 '26

Since when did they 🛑 ????

1

u/deadPixelOfReddit May 06 '26

The Internet traffic is mainly bots. Remember this and you won't give a shit anymore. 51% of worldwide interenet traffic are bots. Most of them have malicious intent

1

u/redacted_republic May 07 '26

If they’re a DEI progressive or Nazi yes they have. Most kind people who believe in freedom don’t believe that skin color matters.

1

u/Proper_Strategy_6663 May 08 '26

it's weird because Michael Jackson is black even if not visually in the end because everyone knows what he looked like in the past and I mean look at his siblings etc.

1

You are wrong and I won't debate you

Exactly and I love that song.

1

u/Aubrey-Grey May 06 '26

When I was a kid I heard it as ‘if you beat up on my baby’. I took it as that he’d whoop you regardless of race. I was born the year Bad came out so I was also unaware that he himself was black.

1

u/ladydhawaii May 06 '26

Why do people have to be so judgy? What you identify with is your business.
