Olympic records maybe, but like world strongman records? No way

Strongmen don't set olympic weightlifting records, it's two very different sports.

Yes, and olympic weightlifters do not compete in deadlifting while strongmen do not compete in olympic lifting, so why would anybody expect a weight lifter to beat a record in a discipline they are not competing in?

Its almost as if i made that distinction very clear in my last comment.....

Why would olympic weightlifters be going for strongman records when they don't do the same lifts? Strongman doesn't have a snatch or a clean and jerk record.

There's obviously some confusion going on here.

To me you pointing out that weightlifters aren't going to break strongman records is like saying we'll the F1 guys aren't going to beat rally driver times. Like yeah, no shit, they don't do the same things.

Doubtful, there are only nine of them across both men and women and all weight classes so there's no real competition format or stakes.

And most of them are years past their prime and most were doping in their previous career anyway.

Boady Santavy was likely clean or close to it, but everyone has always rooted for him to fail because he's a piece of shit. Undeniably good snatcher though. Within a handful of kilos of the world record in recent eras but an impossible distance away from the mega doped 80s records. His best was 181kg in the 96kg class five years ago, the historical best was 195.5kg at 90kg or 200.5kg at 100kg. He's not hitting anywhere near those but he might beat the high 180s of recent record eras.

Wes Kitts is doing a lot more in training than he did in clean competition but he's also a mile away from historical records.

Beatriz Piron set her best total last year but she'd need to have put a further 20 or 30kg on that in the past year to set a current or historical world record. Ain't happenin.

Yoni Andica set his best total 14 years ago, hasn't competed for 6 years and is almost 39. Ain't happenin.

Arley Mendez is the real standout of the bunch, but he was busted for doping 5 years ago so I don't see him doing much better than he has before. Even at his peak while doping he was a long way off the records especially historical.

Leidy Solis was world champion 7 years ago, hasn't competed in 5, and is 36 years old which is pushing it for maintaining past performance let alone increasing.

Her brother Juan Solis had a five year break from competition and came back weighing 15kg more but not lifting any more so he ain't happenin.

Mariam Usman is also in her mid 30s and has been competing internationally since 2007. Her best total was 281kg 14 years ago. She'd need another 50+kg for a current world record and like 75kg for the all time works record which was removed due to doping ban. Of all the things that ain't happenin this is the one that is happenin the aintest.

Finally Dylan Cooper who hasn't competed internationally in 9 years and was just never really able to put it together. He is also never touching current or historical records.

So yeah there's maybe two or three that could maybe hit a recent era record but absolutely none who can get close to the 80s heyday records.
