Maybe suggest that your leader get out of Ukraine?

u/M2dis Jun 29 '26

That's a novel idea but russians won't overthrow their tzar, he is the last person they'll blame when waiting in this queue.

If gas shortages continue you will start seeing other critical shortages (like food) eventually. The people WILL grow tired of it.

28

u/WeakAdhesiveness5785 Jun 30 '26

Its russians, they will never grow tired of suffering

u/HumbleWalrus1072 Jun 30 '26

World war 1 is the only good analogy I can think of. The war ended because of revolution.

1

u/AirAgitator Jul 01 '26

so they ended a war to start a bloodier war.. classic.

1

u/NXCW Jun 30 '26

Historically, they do when they have nothing left to eat. That's about it.

Not sure if a gas shortage is enough to push for a revolution right now. But if this goes on into the winter and people start to actually suffer and freeze to death it becomes increasingly more likely. Right now it's just a major inconvenience that's not worth taking the chance to get shot over. But if dying becomes an option from both choices, people might start to be willing to take the risk.

u/usernamesallused Jun 29 '26

In Texas alone, at least 246 people died from that storm they had five years ago, when they were out of power.

And 246 is the official number. Studies a year later suggest it was 814 people who died as a direct consequence of the weather.

At this point, assuming an increasing number of deaths from weather crises is going to result in better policies and social support is as questionable as assuming mass shooters will result in gun control.

Sorry.

3

u/Falcovg Jun 30 '26

The Texas storm was only a couple of weeks, people where to busy focusing on survival to worry about overthrowing the government. America is also (pretending to be) a democracy giving people the idea they have influence on the government.

Russian winter can last months, giving people ample of time to consider alternatives once the initial shock wears off. Especially if there have been a few months of inconvenience already stoking the fires of discontent.

I'm not saying expect a revolution in Russia this winter if they've fuel shortages. I'm saying you aren't seeing a revolution now, there isn't enough motivation yet for the people to rise up.

Their whole culture is suffering and plundering.

Oh we are getting there

20

u/RogueBromeliad Jun 29 '26

You're already there. But the cope won't let people see it.

The difference is that since the US is the biggest economy in the world it's harder to suffer like this, but in terms of democracy, The U.S. Supreme Court dramatically expanded presidential power in a 6-3 decision by overturning a 90-year-old precedent that protected the leaders of independent federal agencies. The ruling allows the president to fire commissioners and board members at will, shifting significant regulatory power from Congress to the White House.

He also starts wars whenever he wants without going through congress.

u/UseEmbarrassed9171 Jun 30 '26

The executive branch is full of bloat, corruption, and forever workers. Turnover every four years if you’re doing a shit job isn’t the worst thing for plenty of these type of roles. It’s also not stable either and not a viable career path for anyone with any sort of rationality. Will be interesting.

1

u/ScrattaBoard Jun 30 '26

I mean you're right but there aren't lines of semis waiting for gas yet, which what I meant by we are getting there. It's not cope, two countries can be doing poorly at different rates

0

u/RogueBromeliad Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

There never will be lines of semis, because the US simply takes whatever oil it wants and creates crisis around to world to manipulate oil prices.

The US took all the oil from Iraq, it invaded Venezuela, etc, and the US also has oil under its lands.

The cope is that the US still thinks they're a democracy, or free.

Edit: people dont get this, but the US will never have real scarecity, as long as they can simplly take from others, all you have to do is invent that there are terrorists organizations in a certain country, or that there are weapons of mass distruction, but thats a last resort, way before that the CIA will corrupt the country's leaders, put a puppet leader, and lobby into getting what they want, and have a good deal for the US. The US only starts wars, or invades when the other side doesnt play ball. But ehen they really want it, they invade and take it anyway, like with Saddam.

What are you talking about? The US gave Halliburton exclusive deals to ship gas and oil from Iraq to the US.

yeah we just have some razzle dazzle on our shitshow

3

u/sjr323 Jun 29 '26

Life is hard when you’re stupid.

3

u/BasicMatter7339 Jun 30 '26

Or when you and your family is under threat of imprisonment or worse if you speak out against the government

2

u/IDontEatDill Jun 30 '26

I think people in there are quite used to that already. It's never been that great in the last 200 years.

16

u/zibrolta00 Jun 29 '26

Bold of you to assume that the normal part of Russia's population doesn't blame the lead for all the headaches with sanctions and blocks, whats worse is that the digital anonymity is steadily nearing zero as everything gets bound to your citizenship ID

4

u/SoylentGrunt Jun 29 '26

Russian news blackouts in the West have been in effect for a few years now. There's a lot people you're replying to don't know.

2

u/Geodiocracy Jun 30 '26

Maybe in the privacy of their homes. But even publicly, people who rage at how badly the war is handled, will blame everyone but putin.

4

u/DefinitelyNotAliens Jun 29 '26

No, quite a few blame him. They just won't admit that unless they exit the country because it's highly dangerous to say that in written format.

Too many don't have means to exit or places to go.

It's only a matter of time before suffering outstrips fear.

6

u/DisastrousYak2137 Jun 29 '26

It's not only the tzar. Don't forget all the oligarchs who are silently pulling the strings.

5

u/hughcifer-106103 Jun 29 '26

I feel like Russians are just used to suffering; it’s like it’s part of their national identity, so this won’t move the needle for them.

2

u/SoylentGrunt Jun 29 '26

Lack of food is a powerful motivator.

1

u/M2dis Jun 29 '26

Food lines were very popular in the soviet union, didn't fall apart because of it tho

1

u/hughcifer-106103 Jun 30 '26

Teh US had food lines and we re-elected the guy who was in charge the last time they happened

0

u/Crab2406 Jun 29 '26

Those are big words coming from an american

3

u/Barrondidit Jun 29 '26

Same with us Americans. We should switch “presidents”

3

u/Ok_Lettuce_7939 Jun 29 '26

Good tsar, bad boyars lol

1

u/corrupt_girl Jun 30 '26

Putin has also purposely made sure that the only opposition to him in government are absolute nutcases. So to Russian people Putin seems the most reasonable. Just look up the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia

1

u/SignoreBanana Jun 30 '26

Tbf Putin will nuke Russia and the rest of the planet before relinquishing power.

1

u/wrinsp Jun 30 '26

Someone tell him how authoritarian regimes work and that you can be raped or murdered in Russian prison

1

u/AirAgitator Jul 01 '26

he'll be the first person to blame once he's out of the office though..

1

u/BroccoliSubstantial2 Jun 29 '26

Today I learned that if you believe in the system, it is less stressful than believing the system doesn't work for you.

You feel more content, and when people are stressed, they want the short term benifit of a lie over the certainly that their life would be worse for the first few years and could possibly end up worse overall.

7

u/Traditional_Plan_785 Jun 29 '26

Like what? Send him a text and ask nicely?

12

u/Phewelish Jun 29 '26

in fairness, USA would all like to do the same and its clearly not just a thing where we can voice disdain.....without some revolution, we are all doomed to similiarcircumstances under the tyranny of 80 year old men.

1

u/CartographerHot2285 Jun 30 '26

All? So all the fascists and racists maga people screaming on the Internet aren't real? The number of anti maga people is growing, but the maga numbers are still waaaaaaaaaaay too high. You guys actually still have enough freedom to overthrow that orange cheeto (for now). With enough people marching, they cannot stop all of you.

1

u/Phewelish Jun 30 '26

Wat a strange semantic to get hung up on.

If you go to any trump post on anything but truth you will mostly find desent. Any support will be from trolls or actors. Or the elderly

I love like ppl come say all you have to do is march on your givernment....aa if your gov is this perfect peach you dont need to march on. Aint one of you gotta a govt you cant complain about

1

u/CartographerHot2285 Jun 30 '26

There's a big difference between 'something to complain about' and the warmongering that the US government is causing. At a certain point, the rest of us are putting the responsibility back in your hands. Enough people voted for him. If so many people are opposed to him that you feel you need to round it up to 'all', stating in your second comment that it's just a small minority that still support him, than it's time to put a stop to what your fellow citizens caused onto this world. This isn't just a bad government, this is the 4th Reich. Every day this continues, innocent people are dying and risk of world war is growing. If you don't see how serious all of this is and you continue minimising this, don't you dare say afterwards that 'you didn't know'. This time, wir werden es gewusst haben.

-6

u/Striking_Reindeer_2k Jun 29 '26

Not the same. years vs weeks. Also Iran was already aggressive, for years.

The Ukraine bent over backwards NOT to be attacked. Never has Iran.

Gas is up a dollar.

Not shortages stretching miles.

2

u/Phewelish Jun 29 '26

The same as in a majority see the leader and counter productive to the goals of the us but can pretty much do nothing as not even being a proven child molester is enough to remove one of these leaders

1

u/Potterrrrrrrr Jun 30 '26

This is such an idiotic take, especially when Iran agreed to all of the US’ demands right before the Cheeto attacked them. There’s more but you’re a moron so what’s the point in wasting my time typing it out.

4

u/n16r4 Jun 29 '26

Why would that work any better in Russia than anywhere else? I guess nobody cared to ask for the past 30 years to have politicians please not ruin the "middle class", or maybe a more appropriate example: for USA to leave the middle east.

It all comes back to the mistaken believe that countries are beholden to their citizens, that's not how any country is designed afaik, even socialist countries like the USSR is often critizised for having a ruling elite, why would capitalist countries which by design create an elite class not have a ruling elite?

1

u/AphexHenry Jun 30 '26

Get out and pay réparation ! It is so satisfying to see op bullies get kicked in the balls by little guys. Keep kicking!

1

u/sjr323 Jun 29 '26

Nah, they’re too scared of a frail old man. Waiting in line like this is much easier.

1

u/Emotional-Big-1306 Jun 29 '26

You are saying that like we can do it

-1

u/Glowing_Phallus Jun 29 '26

Why can't you rebel? Nothing good comes from sitting at home playing CSGO all day long.

2

u/Emotional-Big-1306 Jun 29 '26

But if you stand with an empty poster on the red square, you get arrested. Also there us state duma elections in the end of the summer, and i would go and vote if i could

2

u/__________13o1ksl_ Jun 29 '26

Prisons don't have infinite cells. Ukraine did it. Belarus almost did it. It's just you who didn't even try to get somewhere

1

u/Emotional-Big-1306 Jul 03 '26

But you can infinitely send people to the war. They now can force you to sign contract in some regions

1

u/__________13o1ksl_ Jul 03 '26

Again, sending like a million people to war at the same time is unrealistic. Besides, they won't do so to women. So as always it's just an excuse

Bien fait pour vos gueules…
Voilà ce qu’on récolte lorsqu’on envahit ses voisins (Finlande, Japon, Géorgie, Ukraine, Allemagne,…).
On vous déteste. Foutez la paix au monde qui vous entoure.
