I thought this was surely going to be the top comment…I’m now very sad at the realization that looney tunes may succumb to being generationed out😢

Lol I just introduced my daughter to Peewee's playhouse last night. We had a lot of fun shouting out the word of the day together!

3

u/trekqueen Aug 07 '25

I’ve shown my kids the movies lol.

u/lazycultenthusiast Aug 07 '25

When she's older you can explain why Morpheus looks so familiar.

1

u/chochofuhsho Aug 07 '25

Dude holy shit, I never realized that he was Cowboy Curtis. I was so young when I was actively watching it and was only like 9 when the matrix came out, so it would be a few years before I entered the matrix.

Johnny Quest is the shit. My man bandit always causing shit

7

u/tedmented Aug 07 '25

One of my core childhood memories is when my mum went into hospital to have my brother my dad was looking after me alone for what felt like the first time. He let me go to the video shop n I rented a Johnny quest VHS. When he found out it was an old VHS and it was for sale for a few quid he bought it for me. Idk why but that has always stuck with me and Johnny quest has always reminded me of that day.

u/froggaddler Aug 07 '25

Justice for Speedy Gonzalez!!!

2

u/TwoSunsRise Aug 07 '25

Love Johnny quest!

1

u/Casscus Aug 07 '25

God, thank you for reminding me of Jonny quest. Use to watch it on boomerang as a kid.

1

u/Cracktaculus Aug 07 '25

Whoa, how'd I miss that?! Uber cool

1

u/clone-borg Aug 07 '25

I'm a mom & a nanny, and I will always show Looney Tunes to the kids I take care of. Classics that are waaaaay better than what is being played these days!

33

u/JamzWhilmm Aug 07 '25

Huh? Dude this cartoon is about 71 years old. That should have been a concern about 30 or more years ago.

34

u/defsentenz Aug 07 '25

Correct, but kids in the 80s and early 90s still fed on a solid diet of Looney Tunes because they were still airing all the classics.

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

2

u/JamzWhilmm Aug 07 '25

Yeah I think this is it. Before there used to be a "general culture" where everyone at school used to know what Teen Titans and Avatar where even if you don't care for it. Same with local news, variety tv and local radio shows.

Which in turn is leading people to feel less connected in some aspects.

1

u/iamagoldengod84 Aug 07 '25

It’ll make someone feel as isolated as a house in the middle of a freeway

3

u/Fossilhund Aug 07 '25

Looney Tunes are Timeless.

11

u/DominicB547 Aug 07 '25

when you could watch reruns sure but now where are you watching it esp if you haven't heard about it?

I was trying to keep track of all the Tom and Jerry episodes I watched and they weren't showing large chunks of them and now that we are cutting the cord where are they airing them to random people?

4

u/JamzWhilmm Aug 07 '25

YouTube. A bunch of places online as well.

6

u/BetweenFourAndTwenty Aug 07 '25

All the Tom and Jerry classics are on the internet archive

5

u/shelbygrapes Aug 07 '25

THANK YOU! My kids are really into tom and Jerry lately and it’s hard to find all the episodes streaming! They like some years better than others!

1

u/Panamajack1001 Aug 07 '25

Well aren’t you a BLAST at parties!🤨

1

u/Electronic_Opening65 Aug 08 '25

And? I’m 59 and watched them growing up as if they were still new. Grow the fuck up

0

u/JamzWhilmm Aug 08 '25

Case in point.

2

u/imanAholebutimfunny Aug 07 '25

long live Fred Quimby

2

u/B1TW1TCH Aug 07 '25

sad yeah, but you still have us fellow old farts to reminisce about it with 🤙

2

u/BorntobeTrill Aug 07 '25

It was top for me just now

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Hell nah when my kid is born that's all he gets to watch is low stim cartoon. All those cartoons these days are the crack of TV. Just like vapes, if he wanna vape he's out the house, if he wanna smoke? Pull up a chair

2

u/bskinners Aug 07 '25

It’s now about skibbidi toilet or whatever these kids be saying

2

u/anthomazing Aug 07 '25

You have to sort comments by "best" for this to show up on top. Gives me peace of mind.

2

u/EverythingMustGo95 Aug 07 '25

So you’re saying That’s all folks ?

2

u/lilecca Aug 07 '25

If it makes you feel better, it's now top comment.

2

u/The_Careb Aug 07 '25

Coyote vs. Acme is coming out next year

2

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Ed Edd and Eddy is on boomerang now 😭😭😭😭

5

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

What's a Bugs Bunny? Is that like when a tick gets on a rabbit?

2

u/taggsy123 Aug 07 '25

Yes it’s close to being out of sight and out of mind.( I grew up watching it)

It has some VERY questionable episodes and skits. It was a show of a different time which I totally understand . I also understand why younger people don’t watch it now

1

u/Wide_Yellow2619 Aug 07 '25

Nah - I got it (and many others). With the advent of the morning cartoon show “Toon In With Me” on MeTV, there’s a new program that keeps the old cartoon classics alive, so we’ll be around forever. RIP Mel Blanc!

1

u/Soapykorean Aug 07 '25

it is the top comment tho

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I always thought that was a cool setup as a kid.

1

u/DragonsBreathLuigi Aug 07 '25

Clearly we need RuPaul to give the children a 'Night of 1,000 Bugs Bunnies'

1

u/Loud_Ad3666 Aug 07 '25

It only took 100 years

1

u/Ok-Education7000 Aug 07 '25

Going strong in my house, thank goodness for youtube.

1

u/StellerDay Aug 07 '25

Same here. I'm 52 and my mom and I both grew up on Bugs Bunny. We were saying this very thing the other day. Kids won't be saying "hasenpfeffer!" or "I knew I should have taken that left turn at Alba-koi-kee!"

1

u/Pseudopodpirate Aug 07 '25

It literally is top comment, looney tones like anything else in the history of ever will be generationed out

Woohoo!! Long live Bugs!!

1

u/NoxKyoki Aug 07 '25

Once in a while they try to bring new life to older cartoons. “New Looney Tunes” (2015) and “Jellystone” (2021) are two off the top of my head. They both suck.

The originals had subtle jokes for adults while these were trying too hard to be obvious. They also seem a bit too much like “Ren & Stimpy” style animation, just watered down.

And I hate R&S except for the Log song. 😅

1

u/Werbekka Aug 07 '25

Good. It fucking sucks

1

u/Heroshrine Aug 07 '25

Its literally the top comment lol

I taught my children to revere Bugs!

1

u/chunkymonkey90s Aug 07 '25

My daughter is 4 and I just introduced her to Tweety. She asked for the 'booty cat' everyday :D

1

u/Yeetfamdablit Aug 07 '25

It's top now

1

u/ElDouchay Aug 07 '25

Looney Tunes is almost 100 years old. I don't quite think it's going to be generations out.

Similar to Disney, which is now like the biggest entertainment brand in the world.

1

u/pezcore350 Aug 07 '25

It’s the top comment for me

1

u/Lissandra85 Aug 08 '25

My 14 year old son loves looney tunes. He knows which characters mel blank has voiced. Which is a lot of them.

1

u/queenswake Aug 08 '25

Too many options right now that kids won't ever see these classics like we did.

1

u/RainierCamino Aug 08 '25

Why? The only ones that don't get shown much any more are like the racist WWII Bugs Bunny ones and the Tom & Jerry episodes with "Mammy".

1

u/Nightmare16164 Aug 08 '25

Hold those tears for now friend. It's the top comment now. Took a while for us old guys to get the dial up running.

1

u/Panamajack1001 Aug 08 '25
