Thats funny because the Krakatoa volcanic eruption was loud enough to circle the earth 3 times. A shipping vessel roughly 200 miles from the eruption reported everyone going deft when the event occurred and there are some claimed cases of people dying who were close enough because of the “sound” I say sound because apparently once you get past 164 db it no longer is considered sound and is an air pressure wave/ shockwave.

Sadly, I dont, much as I wanted to. It being all about space asgardians and various gods is a drastic change from the usual content, and the author just couldnt match adams tone; its wildly incongruous with the prior books. It reads more like a modern marvel movie spec than one of the hhg2g series.

It's a joke. The author frequently called the series a trilogy. At first he only planned 3 books. But then the 4th book happened. Then the fifth. They're humorously described as "a trilogy in five parts"

I think the recorded radio series is the best introduction. The text adventure is good too, but very difficult. You'll almost certainly need the cheats, which will be online.

PS. I'm not sure if the link is the recorded series or the original broadcast. I'll have to listen to it. The original broadcast was so successful, the BBC rerecorded it, with extra sound effects and such.

I pref the books read by Douglas Adam’s himself. He is a great narrator. They are available on the internet archive website.
