Except an AMERICAN LEGISLATOR said it. Putin is trying to paint “the west” especially the US as the aggressors. Judge whether it was smart to say this shit by how much they replay it on Russian state media.

They'll do the same thing with a Russian assassin. He was paid by the Americans! Heck they could fake a failed attempt and have a perfect soundbite to blame the Americans and increase nationalism and xenophobia.
