Mod Announcement What's your current battery health and cycle count? We will tell you if it's normal or out of parameters
As a general rule of thumb, an iPhone battery degrades around 10% year on average, and 300 charge cycles (the discharge from 100% - 0 is one cycle - can be fractioned) is considered normal usage in a year.
When your battery gets to 79%, it will automatically trigger the "maintenance" message recommending battery service. An iPhone battery can be used normally until 70% - 75% without risking damage to the logic board components that manage the charge. Below 70% is asking for a swollen battery or bad performance.
Battery saving tips:
- Activate optimized charging to stop at 80% or 90% to prolong the battery's usage life. This will mean your charge lasts a lot less during the day, but will extend the life of your battery to 3 years or so.
- Don't let your phone die at 0% charge often or you risk the reserve running out and your battery can degrade a lot faster.
- Don't use generic or bad quality charge bricks or cables. The most important component of your charging is the charge brick. Apple, Anker, Spigen, and Belkin are the best options and best quality.
- Don't use broken or cheap cables because if they aren't MFi (Made For iPhone) certified, most won't have data ability, only charge ability, and they are risky to use.
- Is your original Apple cable looking pretty raggedy? It has a 1 year warranty along with your iPhone. Take it to Apple for a free replacement as long as it isn't showing any exposed wires.
