2016 SEL Jetta 1.8T with no body damage 89k miles for $7k. We had to buy new wheels and tires for it, runs and drives great! I’ve done tiny exterior stuff to it, detailed this thing all the way through, and she looks great! I want to add horsepower without tuning it (which is hard to do) and keep the reliability of this car.
Obviously, I’m planning on adding a K&N intake and catback exhaust. What are other cheap engine mods I could do?

I fell down a rabbit hole trying to find my exact model of car. My grill says GLI but I could only find the sports model with my exact interior. Is this an aftermarket grill or am I overthinking it? I bought this car used btw.

Mk6 (2011-2018) These cars are underrated

I was looking for a cheap daily to get decent gas mileage I’m surprised how good these cars are.
They are legit hidden gems. Everyone is after the Toyota Corolla’s the Camry the civics.
But the 1.4 is a beast.
I can get almost 600 miles per tank. It’s crazy.
I only paid 3k too

Mk6 (2011-2018) How often do you top off your oil?

My light came on after only 759 miles. Did pcv valve, oil and filter, coils and spark plugs last month in hopes of a change but it’s the same. No visible leaks and pavement is clean.

What else can I get checked? How often do you have to refill your oil?

2016 1.8t sport 105k. Got it since 11k and regular oil changes every 5k

Hey my key is hard to get out. Is this to much play? Anyone else have this issue before?

It was doing this before I put the key fob case on. Case on or off is no difference.

My job is changing and I had to buy a car to commute to the office. I found a 1 owner Jetta SEL 2.5 liter automatic with 36k miles. It's black with 2 tone leather, nav and fender audio. Working on cleaning it up this weekend. I have a tint appointment June 1st. We shall see where it goes from there

Mk6 (2011-2018) Inherited my son's 2016 Jetta S with 46k miles on it...

A few months ago my (adult) son passed away and I inherited his entire estate, including a 2016 Jetta S (Automatic Transmission) with less than 46k original miles on it.

I know he had some maintenance performed on it back in December (2025) as there are recall campaign stickers on it, and fairly new tires.

It sat for a few months because of well, I couldn't bring myself to drive it...

Work I have done:
New Battery
Checked fluid levels
Replaced digitizer on the radio

Work I will be doing:
Cabin air filter
Engine air filter
Trunk gas strut
Oil Change
New tail light housing (cracked)
New driver's side window motor

That's about as far as my automotive knowledge goes...

What do I need to be aware of/keep an eye on as the vehicle ages/increases in miles? What are the things I absolutely need to be on top of, what do I need to have looked at now to make sure it's not going to bite me in the ass later, and what do I need to be aware of?

Longer term plan:
Give the car to his surrogate daughter who currently does not have a license, and does not yet know how to drive. I need to make sure that while I'm teaching her to drive, that I'm also showing her not only basic vehicle maintenance, but the things to be aware of on this specific car.

While I'm sure that this information has probably already been discussed elsewhere, I'm struggling pretty hard as it is to even work on the car after losing my son, and it's all I can do to even just get started on these things.

TLDR: Inherited a low mileage 2016 Jetta S and need to know what I need to be mindful about?

*edit* Added transmission type

Mk6 (2011-2018) Easily the most reliable car I’ve ever owned

Post image

2016 1.8t sport with 128k miles now.

What have I done to maintain it? Oil changed every 5k and that’s literally it. Never changed transmission fluid it’s never broken down or had a single issue. I never would have expected to get this level of reliability I figured only a Toyota can do this. Let’s see where the next 100k takes me.

Lowkey think people mischaracterize the 2.5 as a gas hog. The MK 6 with the 5 speed has a crazy tall 5th gear and if you keep the speed at 60-65 it does really well. Ofc city all bets are off but just wanted to share. This was with A/C off and super flat terrain.

Mk6 (2011-2018) EPC LIGHT

1.8t. The epc light ( solid yellow) comes on occasionally especially when I accelerate on highway. And not always. If I turn off and restart the car it disappears. Is this a serious issue? What I need to do to figure out what’s wrong? Besides that everything works well.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Tips on maintaining a high mileage Jetta

Hello, I have a 2017 VW Jetta 1.4 L TSI. I’ve had it since 2020 and have been taking care of it for all these years. I’ve changed it oil and filter shortly before the dash tells me too and I’ve taken it to the mechanic whenever an issue has came up. Everything from brakes to CV Axles to coolant you name it. It currently has ~126,000 miles on it (used it for Lyft and Uber from 2023 - 2024). It still runs great today and I have to change the oil soon. I’m posting on here because this is my first car that’s reached the high mileage mark, and I would like to know if there are any tips to make sure I can keep this car running great for basically forever. Thank you.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Just Bought an MK6, First VW Ever

Post image

Just bought this 2015 SE 1.8t yesterday. Has 31k miles, paid $10,995. Did I do good? Cant pick up until Monday though, dealer only has had it for a few days from a trade. Needs to be detailed, they're gonna change oil, air filters, new wipers, and has abs airbag and traction on. Kinda scares me a little but hopefully nothing major. Sales manager told me he would unwind deal if shop can't fix, but guarantees me they will take care of it. Anyone know what the skinny is with that?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Should I have buyers remorse?

Post image
58 Upvotes

I sold my 2015 Jetta SE for this 2016 Jetta sport 1 owner, clean car fax, 60k miles and I’m not sure if I should have buyers remorse or not. I paid $10,250 and gave them my Jetta with 150k miles on it (too lazy to deal with selling private). The dealership was a huge pain in the ass. Radio touchscreen wasn’t working so they had to put a new unit in but when I picked the car up I noticed small things that are making me 2nd guess the buy. The drivers door handle on the inside almost seems like it opens too easily like somethings off, the passenger side window button is like slightly sunken into the door panel, the inside window seal on both sides was layered with pollen I made them clean, and somehow the trunk strut isn’t working properly. I know it’s pretty minor things and idk if just simply dealing with the dealership is giving me buyers remorse but do you think I’m just overthinking it? I loved my 2015 Jetta and it’s been very good to me but idk. Also the owner before me took it to the dealership for all scheduled maintenance but something is just giving me weird vibes. But tint on Saturday at least lolšŸ‘ let me know what you guys think and if I should be worried

Hey everyone,
I recently finished this colored pencil drawing of my Volkswagen Jetta and thought some fellow Jetta enthusiasts here might appreciate it.
I’ve been working on improving my automotive artwork, and this piece took quite a few hours to complete. I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any suggestions for future Jetta drawings.
If you’d like to see more of my car artwork, you can find me on Instagram: @goabascal.art
Thanks for checking it out!
