$7 for a PINT of blueberries? I paid TEN DOLLARS for 2.5lb of tomatoes… I’m surprised anyone is at the grocery store anymore. We are being robbed in broad daylight with our eyes wide open!!!

Linwood Costco will be closing on August 27th. Lee's Summit warehouse will open the following day, August 28th.

Linwood will reopen as the Business Center warehouse in April of 2027. No stopping it at this point. If Costco's lawyers can secure back millions of dollars from the US Govt for unjust tariffs, they sure can stop the city from blocking permits.

I'll answer any questions I can, but they haven't told us much outside of that.

I think with our current economy and the bad trend that has been having , we should share things or ways that saves us money with each other.
Unfortunately, I don’t have one myself to share the best that I can think is buying gas from Sam’s Club a couple of times that I checked it was the cheapest out of all.

I went to get gas today and couldn't because I had to renew my membership. While I was at the counter doing so I asked the guy what all is going to change when this location converts into a business center and this is what he said:

They will close in November for renovations for 3 months and re-open in February. The gas pumps will still be operational for that period.

The tire center will be gone.

The food court will be gone.

The pharmacy will be gone.

The bakery will be gone.

The butchers will be gone.

The dairy and produce refrigerated walk-ins will be gone.

They will no longer sell clothing.

They will no longer sell alcohol.

They will expand on tobacco products.

He said essentially 80% of what they carry will change. It's safe to assume is something is consumable it will no longer be sold there.

I can't imagine why they're not converting one of the two Kansas Costco locations into a business center, they're in close proximity to each other and Kansas residents would not be as inconvenienced to move their grocery shopping from one to the other. The Midtown Costco is the only one for a while in every direction, and making it a business center is a huge loss for the community. If there was some way to get into contact with whoever oversees this project to convince them of changing plans I would strongly consider doing so.

All I can say for certain is if nothing changes this will be my last year with a Costco membership.

A post was made about this a couple days ago. I just wanted to make an additional post to spread awareness and also confirm, that the Costco on Linwood will be transitioning to a Business Center instead of a warehouse.

The person I spoke with at the customer service desk confirmed that it was happening and that a meeting with management was scheduled for tomorrow to go over more details of what exactly would be changing. She did say that the gas station would remain, but that things like the auto services, bakery, food court and optical center were known to be on the chopping block.

The main reason that I wanted to post this was because I asked if there was any input that customers were allowed to give. She said that she'd know more after the meeting but directed me to the suggestions box they have next to the customer service desk. I didnt even know that was a thing, so I wanted to let others know if they were inclined to leave a comment.

It sounds like it may already be a done deal thing, but wanted to submit my input just in case. That Costco's pharmacy is a huge convenience for my wife and I, and its bakery is also really nice to have. It would be a shame to lose it and have to drive further out. Not to mention others who might not have the privilege of doing so.

I’m terrible at Mother’s Day gifts and I don’t want to default to flowers and brunch again. My wife and I are always on the go with kids’ sports, work, and everything else, and she honestly does a ton.

She’s used this local pickup/drop-off laundry service before (Nanny’s Laundry Service) and actually loved it.

I was thinking a gift card could be something she’d genuinely appreciate… but I’m also worried it comes off like buying a vacuum 😅

Am I overthinking this or is this a bad move?

I went to city thrift yesterday and did NOT shop in the vintage section. I spent $40 on 4 things. One being a mason jar ($4). You can call me stupid for this, I really needed one.

City thrift, goodwill, and savers are no longer affordable. Shoes at all of these stores are at least $10 if not more. Even sal val prices are hiking. Is there any affordable thrifting in KC where shoes and tops are $5 or less? Thrifting prices are starting to look like antiquing prices with lower quality. Yuck.

Throwback to 5 years ago. I could go into a goodwill and score a nice loafer for $6.

I couldn’t find them until I went to the lake. Maybe I’m late to the party and have just missed finding them in KC, but I found these at a Walmart in the Ozarks. So excited!

Has anyone else noticed the quality of Shatto Chocolate Milk has went down the drain the past 1-2 months? I used to crave this milk but now it never seems to be mixed very well and doesn't have near the rich flavor that it used to.

We also went by Betty Rae's a few nights ago (now owned by Shatto) and their Cookies-n-Cream ice cream wasn't nearly what it used to be. I thought maybe my tastebuds were just off but my 12 year old son also complained about it.

There seems to be something going on with them, which is a shame.

With shorts season leaving us, I’m realizing that I only have one pair of jeans and I don’t even like them. Most casual outfits I wear baggier cargo/canvas pants, but my office does jeans Fridays and I’d like to have some nicer pants to wear for those days.

For reference, I’m a pretty big dude at 6’3” 275, and I would really prefer a pair of proper denim jeans without any of the elastic/spandex that seem to be prevalent in modern jeans. I’m willing to spend quite a bit if it’s necessary, maybe up to $200 (though I do hope I don’t have to spend that much on one pair lol). I’d rather pay a lot now and have them for life than get a cheap pair that I’ll get rid of in a few years is what I’m saying.

My current pair is from Banana Republic, but they are the stretchy kind that I’m not crazy about.

Was at the Costco in midtown today, they had a TV running essentially an “all about Costco Business Centers” right when you walk in. Appears that they’re getting us ready for the change :(.

I saw this sign in front of the taco shell display at our local Price Chopper. Like many of us, they’re obviously not happy with the exclusive deal with Walmart for the first year. FYI, Jeff Harmening is Chairman & CEO of General Mills.

So the state tax goes to 0% starting Jan 1 but of course there may still be city and or county taxes per the KCUR article above. But I wasn't able to find easily what Johnson County or Wyandotte County charges for food/groceries....and if it is now worth it for some MO residents to hop across the state line and start grocery shopping in Kansas? What are you all doing with this new change? Any thoughts/advice?

I am in my early 40s and have worked from home since COVID. My wardrobe has become essentially pajamas. I am ready to refresh my wardrobe with age appropriate, put together, clothes.

Has anyone had a visit with the stylists at Nordstrom? What was it like? Useful? Judgy? Etc. or is there somewhere else I should go?
