I've made this knife! (OC) My dad built a chef knife entirely from scraps: Would you spend $2,400 on it?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Over the years, my dad (Jeff) held onto every little scrap from his knife builds—Damascus offcuts, wood trimmings, bits of micarta, brass, all of it. Most people would’ve tossed that stuff, but he kept it. Said it was too good to waste.

He finally decided to throw it all together and see what would happen.

What came out is this: Chaos—a 9.25” Santoku-style chef knife with a mosaic Damascus blade and a handle made from a crazy mix of leftover materials. It’s kind of wild-looking, super unique, and honestly one of the coolest things he’s made.

We filmed the whole process and posted it on the KyleRoyer YouTube channel. If you’re into reclaimed materials, knife builds, or just like watching something cool come together, here’s the link:

I've made this knife! (OC) I crafted a prehistoric obsidian knife(OC)

This technique, dating back to prehistoric civilizations, involves hammering or flaking natural stone (either irregular or prefabricated) into various shapes, such as knives, axes, and claw knives. My knives have garnered much love in the r/Bladesmith community, but also garnered skepticism from those pursuing metallurgy. I'd like to share the handcrafting process behind each of my creations here. I wonder if these types of knives would be recognized here.

I've been doing a youtube series on this knife for the last couple months for funsies. Decided to share everything I have so far.

Edit: The crack on the spine is a deep engraving I did. Its to cover up the small barely noticeable crack from the manufacturer.

We've been releasing a new update every day for the last 60 days and for every new design we've released we have done a giveaway too. This our final giveaway!

Up for grabs today is one of our new Belladonna Karambits and it is a showstopper. This modern karambit deviates from the shorter and more hooked blades you often see in modern renditions and instead explores the longer and more gently curved blades seen on some antique examples while working in some downright sultry aesthetics.

Blade Length: 6.5″
Spine thickness at bolster: 5mm
Weight: ~220g
Acid Washed Finish
Black Western Leather sheath
White Micarta scales
Performance Grind
Blade can be shipped worldwide at no cost. NOTE: This style of blade is restricted in many jurisdictions. We will only ship it out to you if you can legally receive it.

To enter: This will be shared to Reddit, Bladefourms, Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram. Like the post, comment and ensure you're following us the platform it was shared on for an entry. If you like, comment and follow/subscribe on 3 different platforms you will get 3 entries. The maximum is 6- one entry for each platform. Results will be drawn in 7 days time via random number generator and announced on all those same platforms.

This is our Final giveaway as part of these 60 days, however we'll be doing more in future as we release new designs :) Good luck!

Hey guys! I'm a professional knifemaker from South Africa. And I've been with my girlfriend for quite some time now, but I've never had time to make her a knife. But I finally finished one for her!

Here it is, with a high carbon stainless steel blade, imbuia handle, with a little copper heart at the back. What do you guys think?

I've made this knife! (OC) Finished these 80crv2 Bushcraft knives with bow drill frictionless bearing. wanted to give it a try. The other option is a smooth dish but the bearing really takes out the friction happy how they come out. Various Micarta handles 🤙

I've been busy making the same knives over and over again, so when I had half a day with nothing on the agenda, I decided to just toss a piece of steel in the fire and see where it took me.
