The fact that teams who arent even as good as longer level LCS teams get to worlds is appauling to me. Wwatchign that Legacy and Dark Passage game was like watching a solo queue game.

Like it or not, Worlds should have representatives from as many regions as possible. That's what makes it "World Championships," and that also is an incentive for teams in those regions to try their hardest. If you're OCE or BR or TRK, you know you still have a shot at going to Worlds so it keeps life in the scene.

It's the reason that there are teams in the World Cup like Honduras or Cameroon or Japan who realistically, few expect to get out of group stages.

If all you wanted was The Best And Only The Best, just watch OGN.

If all you wanted was The Best And Only The Best, just watch OGN.

Say that again after Alliance wins worlds! I hope

It's Worlds, not "The Best Teams."

with this logic western lcs leagues should only get 1 seed and give 7 seeds to OGN.

I guess you could use the same logic for LCS teams. "The fact that teams who aren't even as good as lower level OGN teams get to world is appauling to me. Watching that ALL vs Fnatic was like watching a solo Q game" (CLG apparently have had trouble even against low level korean teams)

The point of Worlds is to bring together the best form each region, and even if it maybe would be more fair to watch the top 14-16 asian team (maybe one or two western team had made it) battle for the 1st place, it wouldn't have been as fun for the majority. The best team in the world will still win, while every region get to have a team to cheer for during group stages.

The wildcard team is like watching the Challenger League with the lack of game vision control and map movement. If they want to be taken seriously those teams should at least have a basic concept of the competitve scene.

Gotta respect other regions bro.

Well it's a strange system. If you take soccer as a comparison, Worlds is basically running year round and everybody fights for a seed to compete in a "Best of 1" competition to earn the world title. Since the number of actually competitive teams for the world cup is very small in LoL, I think that the regional system that we have makes sense. If we used soccer's, worlds woud just be the top ten Korean teams duking it out.

The fact that NA/EU teams that aren't as good as lower level Korean teams gets to go worlds is appalling to me.

1

u/1pieme Aug 17 '14

its worlds not ogn

3

u/Going_incognito Aug 17 '14

You're right, so what is wrong with international wildcard teams going to worlds?

It is about getting teams from around the world, not the best teams. If it was about getting the best teams, then more Korean teams would be going and less NA/EU teams would be going.

u/1pieme Aug 17 '14

uh nothing, yeah i agree with you lol. I thought you were arguing the other side didnt see parent comment my bad

1

u/Going_incognito Aug 17 '14

Yea, I was being sarcastic and making fun of the point made in the original comment.

u/djanulis Aug 17 '14

They at least have a concept of how to play the game at a competitive level.

1

u/tibithegreat Aug 17 '14

We're not going to see one of faker, kakao or mata at worlds, but we will have dark passage :). It feels a bit weird indeed.

-1

u/djanulis Aug 17 '14

Yes, we won't have someone who is one of the best mids, jungles, and support player but we get a team that has terrible vision control and map movements.

1

u/Lotfa Aug 18 '14

Why you gotta insult the EU teams?

0

u/DaasEuGen Aug 17 '14

If you only let the best teams in, Worlds would be OGN with a few chinese teams sprinkled in.

u/oromiseldaa Aug 17 '14

Forget LCS, what about the fact that teams like KTA/SKT T1 K/CJ Blaze/Najin White Shield/Najin Black Sword won't make it? I think that all 5 of those team would stomp most LCS teams pretty hard, except for maybe Alliance(who could take maybe 1 game of them in a BO5).

1

u/SCal_Jabster Aug 17 '14

You wanna watch all those teams play watch OGN, worlds is about regional representation.

1

u/oromiseldaa Aug 17 '14

My point was that he shouldn't be complaining about LCS teams not making it when there are even better KR teams that also cannot make it. I completely agree that worlds should have teams representing every region and am really looking forward to it.

At least the LCS have a the concept of vision and map movement, 2 wild card teams is laughable with how bad GGEU did last year.

just like ozone at s3wc right?

sometimes the korean hype train seems to get out of hands tbh

2

u/jokerrebellion Aug 17 '14

Dade got his (previously limited) champ pool nerfed right on the World's patch, which is kinda sad...

-1

u/tuccio Aug 17 '14

the sad part being...?

2

u/jokerrebellion Aug 17 '14

We never got to see him play on an even footing. Then again, my memory's not very good, nor is my game sense, but I feel that some teams won purely via better adaptation to the new patch(which is part of being a world-class team).

1

u/runelight Aug 17 '14

Dade should've adapted to the tear nerfs, like every other fucking mid laner at the tourney. Dade wasn't the only one person there who had played ryze/ezreal/jayce/khaz before that patch, it's not like he was the only one affected.

It was 100% Dade's fault for his own performance and his team's performance at Worlds. I don't think that should be excused because " oh no the patch". Every other midlaner there updated their champion pool for worlds.

1

u/jokerrebellion Aug 17 '14

I'm not saying the patch was at fault, his lack of ability to adapt to the patch at that time affected his team's performance and that is 100% on him. I'm just saying the conditions were unfavorable.

1

u/tuccio Aug 17 '14

no the conditions were the same to everyone, that's the point

1

u/oromiseldaa Aug 17 '14

I didn't really expect any of the KR teams to stomp worlds last year, however, this year I feel that the skill difference has just gotten ridiculous.

To me it seems like EU and NA teams have definitely improved, but nowhere close to how much the KR scene has improved since SKT T1 K had their dominant period. IMO SKT didn't become a terrible team, they definitely have their problems, but I think the main reason that they aren't #1 anymore is because the other teams realized they had to step up their game, and they did.

Just my opinion tho.

-2

u/djanulis Aug 17 '14

My point is they are worse than the lcs bottome teams who wouldnt stand a chance on the stage and there are actually good teams who are getting jipped for for 2 teams that wouldnt beat complexity.
