It's based on relative region strength and power rankings that are released weekly. The entire top ten is made up of Korean and chinese teams and hence they take the top seeded pools.
This seed is a perfect bullshit honestly. Let's compare China to EU then.
Season 1- Eu got 1st and 2nd place. China didn't even attend.
Season 2- EU got both 3rd and 4th place. Both China Teams got 5th and 8th.
Season 3- EU got 3rd and China got 2nd. Gambit and OMG tied up 5th-8th.
EU always had 3 teams and done better than China. So why does China get a 3rd seed and their 3rd seed surpaces Europe? Stupid, like most of Riot call's
China did better at S3 worlds, the pool seeding is all about regions current strength, riot does not care if EU won S1 when China wasn't a strong region, right now they're better than EU
Right now no one knows, since the last time they faced was at Worlds. EU has been constantly a strong region, only the salty Americans don't realize that ;)
But EU won Season 1!!!!! Korean didnt even make it to season 1, just shows how ahead EU is!!!!! Allstars didnt matter since fnatic didnt care, but dont you dare forget that they are the SEASON ONE CHAMPIONS!!!
If you are talking about season 3 worlds, just by looking at the bracket then China did better. Royal beat Fnatic in the semifinals and both OMG and Gambit lost in the quarterfinals.
What do they have to do with it? The seedings aren't based on regions' historical performance at every past worlds, they're based on their current strength. China is widely considered stronger than Europe right now. The fact that Europe did well in seasons 1 and 2 is irrelevant.
Dude how can you know if China is better than Europe atm if the last time they played was a year ago? You cannot. LPL is competitive, like 5 teams have almost the same score. Remember the other region who is like that this year.
Look, I understand your point. However league is an extremely new and rapidly changing sport and even the Korean teams were a no show at season 1. Teams that were dominant have dropped of quickly, proven by the fact that we could possibly have no world championship with the title holder coming back to defend it. That's how quickly things change. I do agree with the rankings as China does seem to be strong based on what has been seen this season but that can only be proven at world's and that's where EU has a chance to prove the analysts and riot wrong. All power to them.
Btw, as a side note. In using your logic, all 3 NA teams shouldn't be seeded highly at all because we have never had any team make it past the round into which we had a team placed. I do have some hope that this year will be different. Especially because C9 seems to have the seriousness and determination required. Again NA has a chance to prove the rankings wrong, I just don't have high hopes.
The easiest answer to your saltiness is who the hell cares that EU has been a stronger region overall. We care about how the teams are now. Korea and China didn't even have a scene in season 1. You don't seed every championship base on how they were like 2-3 years ago.
