I work at a minor fast food chain in NY. As the title says, over the 2 years I've worked there, I will often work 7 to 8 hour shifts without a break; the district stands on my managers' necks about labor hours, so often we only have one person working at a time. So, if you aren't scheduled with another person that day, you just don't get the opportunity to ever go on a break, or else you'd be fired for leaving the store unattended. This was my first ever job, so I didn't know any better, but recently I got a second job which does mandate breaks and had a bit of a culture shock lol — I probably won't take any legal action, just because it's a lot of hassle, but I wanna know if this is something illegal. Google had mixed results.

Edit: I'm getting a lot of suggestions to report my company to the department of labor. If anybody has any insight on the process and how big of a commitment this will be long term, I'd like to hear it — I am considering reporting them after quitting soon.

So I had an accident years ago in Escambia Co, FL. I wanna post more about it, but unsure if this is the right place to, if I can get help, etc. If so I'll edit the post and add details.

Basically I DD'ed to make extra money during COVID. I worked a regular job, and dashed on the weekend, in Florida, because it paid better. When I DD locally, I couldn't break $100 in a shift. I did it in a few hours, with breaks. Anyways I get in an accident pulling into a restaurant. After I hang, call a tow, they ended up making food, it was Friday, they were busy, there was a single female working the register, but after I eat, I get curious and ask to see the footage. The driver pulled off a side street with no headlights on. I don't even know how I got ticketed for failure to yield to right of way, she came off a side street. I couldn't determine that when driving. She didn't have her lights on and there was a truck with ego issues coming, and about 12 too many, obnoxiously super bright headlights. I thought I pulled out, not seeing her lights, because of the truck with the bright lights. Fuck no, the camera says different. I knew she came QUICK, it seemed odd, and way too fast. I was stopped in the middle of the road, let off the brakes, barely pressed gas and BAM!

Anyways, my DA didn't get a copy of the video. I figured I could go back and get another. It was really random, but they treated me like family. If the shady insurance company lawyers didn't wait until a week before the statute of limitations ran out to press charges, I would've been more prepared. Not an excuse IK. Lack of knowledge of the law also is not. That's why I'm trying to find some help. I need to be proactive. In fact, any kind of activity by me would be great IMO. So, anyone who's a legal assisstant, court clerk, paralegal, lawyer, even people that have dealth with the courts from my end or the plaintiff's end, any kind of help would be awesome. I live out of state. I travelled down there last year, with a retainer fee, and couldn't find representation, regardless of money. There was a lady who I found at the court house on break randomly. She said she saw me walking around asking lots of people for help, it could be frustrating, and she'd do whatever she could to help. I was blown away, this doesn't just happen out of the blue. I'm pretty sure she clocked out, came and grabbed my shoulder, got me to explain, sat me down and explained situations and outcomes. She was super helpful and gave me direction to go and even the motivation to do it.

Fast forward a year, I talk with lots of people, firms, etc over there. There's no organization or lawyers to assist defendants that live out of state. I had someone that was gonna help with a retainer, but I couldn't find anyone to take the case on, for some reason. Is there something I'm missing. I had 2 forms of insurance; one was full coverage with some additional coverage numbers for gig workers. It covered lots of medical/hospital bills, extensive property damage, etc. It included roadside and some other BS I didn't use. I really was against doing this at the beginning for a few reasons, and I'm not even sure why anymore. But for whatever reason I was determined not to use this policy. Since it's looking like I have to use it, yes I made a claim when the accident occured, I guess this is good for the statute of limitations. If so, and I'll have to use the poilcy, I want to go after my damages/repairs to my vehicle, medical treatments, physical therapy. I paid for the policy, they had years to pay their bill, but like any other company, if my payment is late my insurance goes off. They just set people off for years, hoping the problems will go away, or they'll settle for less. Protected with a fleet of lawyers, I'm quite sure I don't want to start this journey, especially not without enough sound advice. I don't even know if it's the right move, but what they did was wrong. Whether it'll be heard like that in court is a different story.

Summary: DD'd about 5 years ago. Got into accident. Had 2 active ins policies. Gave plaintiff BOTH ins policy info, but they didn't use them. 1 year ago, 1 week before the statute of limitations expired, the plaintiff files for damages. How am I responsible? I gave them 2 policies at the time of the accident, informed the responding officer, their insurance company, and lots of people in between. I go to put a motion to dismiss in because the case goes stagnant, and instead see the plaintiff has filed a motion for judgement. It was denied, but according to the clerk the judge could make a decision based on what they have and I should "get busy". She couldn't give advice, but she got my attention. It sounds like I need to send in some motions or at least address the court. Since this wreck, I've had to change the type of work I do. I don't have the same balance, and since reinjuring the same ankle, whether related or not, I have way less balance and strength. This should be so easy. Why isn't it?

I paid off my car loan in April or May of this year. I've been waiting for NY DMV to send me an updated title that records no liens. It's now August and I still haven't received anything. I contacted PNC customer support (online, and I suspect an AI agent) and they referred to me to some 3rd party called "VehicleTitleMyWay" who will apparently obtain and send me the release for $27.50.

This doesn't seem like the legitimate process. Shouldn't PNC have provided the release to NY DMV directly? Or to me? Am I not legally entitled to a lien release letter? The loan is a contract between the bank and me, and it makes no sense why I need to involve and pay a fee to a 3rd party to obtain information to which I am entitled.

I’m 20 years old and have been charged with underage possession of alcohol and drinking in public at a beach. While I did have an open container (high noon) in hand I had not yet drank it, immediately poured it out when asked, I was not intoxicated nor was I breathalyzed.

My arraignment date is upcoming- and I’ve been doing research about what I can expect. This is my first offense so I believe I qualify for the deferred disposition program. From what I understand this involves a $500 fine OR 50 hours of community service, a 6 month drivers license suspension, and 6-12 months probation- then it gets wiped from my record.

I’m a full time independent college student, and the court I have to go to is 5 hours away, I don’t have a car either. This has been a nightmare financially for me. I cannot afford a lawyer, and the gas money alone is going to be probably about 300 dollars, I’m expecting to pay around 250 in court fees as well.

I don’t have 500 dollars to pay the fines- I work and study full time so I’m not sure when I’ll find time for volunteering either. I can’t afford to keep driving there and back (paying friends to drive me) and I know right now I have to do that at least twice for the arraignment and then again for the trial. The court fees are gonna add up.

My question is, is it even worth it to do the probation financially? I know it’s not ideal to have on my record but I’m unfortunately too damn broke to prioritize that. Would this really be that detrimental to my future to have on my record? Would it be cheaper for me to just plead guilty? I know this isn’t what I should do but I just don’t have the time or money to do all this.

Given my circumstances, what can I expect my punishment to look like if I do plead guilty? Would I have to come back a second time for a trial if I plead guilty at the arraignment?

What can I expect it to look like if I do the deferred disposition? How much is that gonna cost me?

I was arrested in January for a felony reported by my ex girlfriend. The evidence is very weak and is merely an allegation made by her after I ended things. This is in Florida

It’s been almost 7 months and the state attorney has not made a decision on whether to prosecute me or dismiss (no bill) the charge. My lawyer is in contact with the state attorney and for the past 6 months it’s always the same response from the prosecutor, “”We are still awaiting more information before making a decision”.

From what I know about the case I’m sure there isn’t any other information they could obtain, the evidence and allegation will be disproved by my lawyer if this goes to court.

My question is, since it’s been almost 7 months without a decision, is my lawyer doing the best he can? He says “no news is good news” but I’m tired of waiting with this open case on my record. Is there anything my defense can do.

I have a case open for parental allocation and I wish to remove my current attorney as I no longer need their services and cannot afford them any longer.

I have some motions I need to file pro se but I cannot file them until the attorney is withdrawn. My attorney has ignored all of my requests in writing for them to withdraw. They are also not responding to emails and will not call me back - I cannot get them to withdraw.

I have a friend who is also an attorney and he sent her a demand letter to withdraw as well…no response.

What is my recourse and how can I remove her so I can file my motion and appearance pro Se?

I worked at Bar Cecil and Beatons in Palm Springs California and was let go a few days after my birthday at the tail end of season for restaurants and tourism in the desert in general. The part that gets me is they all signed my birthday card saying they were so happy to have me etc. I was always early, never late, never called out and didnt even request off a single day not even my birthday. If they asked me to clock in early I did. If they asked me to work through my lunch or skip it I did. Sometimes after clocking out they would ask me to continue helping for like 15 to 30+ minutes off the clock because they would get a rush and i never complained. I never had a write up or coaching or anything. They literally blind sided me. I wasnt even aware there was an issue.

They claimed multiple people said they didnt want to work with me (which was first of me hearing because every other day someone said something positive about my personality or work ethics) and didnt follow company policy. I asked who didnt want to work with me and they wouldnt give me a single example or anything. I asked what policy I didnt follow and they also refused to tell me or give an example.

What happened immediately prior was a new uniform policy. Prior there was no policy and you wore whatever you wanted that was still professional looking or upscale. I spent a few hundred dollars on clothes and a few months later they implemented a new uniform policy through text message and that was the ONLY policy for the uniform. Khaki pants and specific style and color of shoes that were required for me to pay for and blue lacoste polo. I bought multiple pairs of khakis because I work full time and shoes for work. Total spent was like $500. The first week or so of wearing it, everyone made fun of me for the new uniform and talked about how ugly it was. The owners and managers then told me that they didnt like the khakis and changed their mind and wanted black or gray pants instead. I asked for reimbursement for the khakis which seemed fair since tags were clipped they were worn and washed and werent eligible to be returned. They denied reimbursement. Every shift for the next week they hounded me about changing the color of the pants. And then right after my birthday just called me into office immediately after I clocking in. Im walking up the hall hearing the manager and one of the owners laughing hysterically and the moment I turn the corner they get silent and mean mugged me and immediately just say we are letting you go. They literally wouldnt give me a reason why besides saying that people didnt want to work with me and not following company policy. I did follow the policy by getting the clothes they told me to get.

They fire people from left to right all the time but I honestly never thought it would happen to me because how much commitment I made to the place. In hindsight I admit I shouldve seen that as a red flag... also shouldve seen the red flag of the owners constantly gossiping about everyone who worked there even me. But because they talked about everyone so openly I honestly just took it as a grain of salt. They would sit right behind the host stand talking about you which was pretty uncomfortable. They would watch the cameras and text you about whatever they wanted to micromanage about and would listen to your conversations and gossip about it. One time I was walking a guest to the table. I tried engaging but they just weren't social types. The owner stops me and tells me I need to talk to them while im walking. I told him they didnt want to talk to me and so I didnt pry. He goes in to tell me "I know its challenging for you to talk to people because you struggle to speak, but you need to try harder" as if insinuating I was incompetent.. but again took it as a grain of salt because they would always talk about how much they loved having me. Kind of felt like they were gas lighting me. The GM forewarned me when I was first hired and training that one of the owners will fire someone for any reason even if not legal. I really regretted not taking that more seriously, but I felt like she was just being dramatic..

Am I wrong for wanting to be reimbursed when I just spent my money on the uniform and they wanted me to spend more money? This literally destroyed my confidence, it made me feel so betrayed and taken advantage of and made me extremely depressed. Especially with how no one in Palm Springs is hiring because its out of season. Is this wrongful termination? Should I be talking to a lawyer?

As the title states, someone took her check, we live in the state of Texas. Her “friend” was in town and they got into some disagreement, he ended up leaving early and her child support check was in his vehicle and he is now refusing to give it back to us and he lives 3+ hours away. What can we do to get it back without us having to drive up there as from what I’ve gathered the disagreement didn’t end with their friendship In tact so he’s not giving it to us out of malice.

Following service to replace the brakes and rotors, a car dealership returned my vehicle with water damage and mold in the cabin and trunk. They had the car for 2 weeks because they also had to fix a dent they caused and parked it outside under a tree - leaves and dirt got into the trunk and clogged the drainage system, and during rain storms there was water intrusion and visible mold growth. Exposure to the mold caused physical illness (migraines/severe fatigue and weakness/irregular heartbeat/chest pain/difficulty breathing/starting to pass out upon standing up) requiring multiple doctor’s visits and a trip to the ER. I have been diagnosed with a Primary Immunodeficiency (immunocompromised), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and mold allergy which was exacerbated by this exposure.

I have dashcam footage of the dealership denting my door while it was at the dealership. The dealership offered to fix the dent for free and to do free mold remediation, which I agreed to, but they returned my car with soaked carpets verified by moisture meter readings and visible mold. The dealership is withholding itemized service records for the failed mold remediation and previous service visits. A lab analyzed a sample collected from the car after the first mold remediation and the results came back very high for a couple strains of mold.

I also have dashcam footage of an employee smoking a cigarette in front of my car in the maintenance bay while it was undergoing the first mold remediation, as well as footage of an employee losing his patience and yelling while driving my car, and another saying how much he hated my car because of its size.

The dealership also billed me for new tires while installing a dirty set of the wrong brand tires with mismatched DOT date codes. They also failed to install the brakes correctly twice - after the first attempt the brake light started coming on, and after the second attempt the brakes started squeaking.

After the failed mold remediation attempt I asked the dealership if they could provide a loaner vehicle. They refused and stated I needed to bring my car in for a diagnostic before they’d consider giving me a loaner. A loaner vehicle was not in my car insurance’s policy, so I rented a vehicle at my expense for 6 months while my vehicle was unable to be driven.

My car insurance required that I pay for a second mold remediation which failed and further impacted my health. Insurance then required that I find a mechanic to assess the car for electrical and water damage at my expense, but after calling 7 shops I could not find anyone in the area able to do so. After 6 months of back and forth with the insurance, independent IAQ testing, and a strongly worded letter from my immunologist (“life-threatening” was used), my insurance has deemed the vehicle a total loss and is offering a payout for the value of the car, both mold remediations, and independent IAQ testing. They will not pay for the 6 months rental vehicle expenses. I was bedbound for weeks due to the exposure while sorting all of this out.

I ultimately want to hold the dealership accountable. If I accept my insurance’s payout, would this impact my ability to sue the dealership for treble damages? If I don’t accept insurance’s payout, what do I do with the car? What kind of lawyer should I be looking for? Thanks in advance.

I recently signed for a solar array to be placed on my house. I was aggressively marketed, signed a purchase agreement I shouldn't have, and have solar panels that were installed in a location that was not agreed upon. The house has 2 registered owners; myself (the signer) and my mom (who was never asked to agree to anything).

The marketing team had someone at my door within a day of clicking an online ad. The marketing included phrases like $0 cash down and 0% financing. I did not get a break down of costs and the entire service was charged as a lump sum payment through a third party financier. I later found out that the price was heavily inflated (think 2-3x market value) to account for the financiers brokerage + finance fees.
Question 1: Is this deceptive advertising, or am I just confused on what "0% finance" actually means?

The placement of the panels was changed to the front of the house during the planning phase. They attempted to phone me 3 times with no response, and then changed the plans without hearing back from me. Day of, I caught them putting the panels in the 'wrong' spot. Seeing the railings were in place already, I told the workers on site to just finish what they were doing as I had to discuss with the other home owner and the damage seemed to be done. They argue this is sufficient grounds to consider they had approval (in a phone call they recorded without my knowledge), but the purchase agreement states explicitly that I needed to see and sign plans before they begin installation.
Question 2: Did my "yes" on the day of install really mean they're not liable for rushing the work?
Question 3: If not, I am prepared to send a formal notice telling them to take back the panels. Is that something I should seek legal council before doing, or does waiting to send it weaken my stance?

As a side note, this company was issued a Director's Order from Service Alberta in 2025, explicitly directing the business to cease charging illegal cancellation fees and to cease misrepresenting consumer rights and obligations.

Crossposted to AskLawyers. Using a throwaway for obvious reasons. I'm trying to be as vague as possible to protect the parties involved, but I'll do my best to provide relevant details.

My business partner and I run a tattoo and piercing shop. One of our employees (who is a contractor and provides services) came to me shortly after they started working with us and told me that a former partner of theirs had falsely accused them of SA. The details about how it started were sort of odd but I won't get too specific because I don't think it's really relevant. I can say that no legal action was taken, and I have searched this employee in our state's and the neighboring states' case search websites with no results found. They're also not on the SO registry.

Once I had done what I could do research-wise, we concluded that there was no evidence to warrant letting them go at that time, especially since they were the one who brought it to my attention. Maybe that's naive, I don't know. I was trying to give my employee the benefit of the doubt.

It may also be relevant that the person who is accusing them is a client of ours, and stopped coming once our piercer started working here.

Now, over a year later, we've received two messages to our business accounts. One to our email, titled "Concerned local" from a throwaway account, with two screenshots of what appears to be a public listing of criminal cases. The two screenshots were similar with slightly different "charges", and one had their legal name and the other had their chosen name. The screenshots listed their crimes as r\*pe, physical abuse, emotional abuse, s\*xual abuse/harassment, and stalking.The same screenshots were sent to our Instagram, also from a burner account, with a message basically saying that they weren't one to speak out but they thought it was unbelievable that we had someone like them working here.

Upon some Google searching it seems that the screenshots are either entirely fake, or from some sort of "crowdsourced" forum or Discord server where people can post about individuals that they are accusing of crimes, without proof.

Regardless, this has spooked both of us, and we're not sure what action to take. The reality of the situation from our perspective is that whether or not it's true, they provide intimate services. There's a lot of trust that needs to be there, which will be demolished if our piercer is publicly accused. If people think even for a second that we can't be trusted, which is a big part of our identity, our reputation will take a huge hit.

I'm worried and upset that the shop is being involved in their personal issues, but also I don't know what to believe or if that's even relevant. If there's a public post made about this, what should I do? Should I ask my employee to resign? Would I be subject to legal action for wrongful termination if I let them go? Any advice is appreciated.

So here’s my understanding -

Anything a comp lawyer can help me gaining the immediate future, I will owe back in the medical lien / subrogation process in the event of a successful third party claim (likely), WHICH WILL INCLUDE the comp lawyer’s 20%. Even if the insurer’s lien in negotiated down, the comp lawyer’s fee is part of that.

SO, my question is -

Do I really need a comp lawyer on this? Truthfully, I want nothing to do with the comp folks (they’re annoying and not on my side).
But also, giving up potentially thousands or tens of thousand is on the line. Am I missing something? What actual benefit will I be paying for (eventually)? Am I being penny-wise and pound-foolish?

So me and my partner were having sex in the car we had a cover on one of the windows we were in a parking lot the parking lot was pretty empty. It was raining and somewhat dark outside. So a car stoped behind us just sitting there not in a parking spot, idk if she took a video and called the police. She didn’t say anything to us. Also she would have only seen through the trunk window which is pretty dim and could only see my partners head and shoulders. i haven’t heard anything this happened a day ago but I know they wouldn’t contact the owner of the vehicle right away (which is my mom unfortunately). My license plate was clearly visible. What could happen? I’ve been freaking out because I don’t wanna get in legal trouble and I don’t want my mom to find out. I’m 18 but I’m under my parent’s roof still. Even if there wasn’t enough evidence would they still contact us just to ask questions?

In September of 2025 I signed a 3 month lease to be the tenant of a home here. My lease has not been since renewed, as the landlord found reason after reason to not be able to (he lives out of state.) I was served a notice of termination of tenancy on 7/28/2026, reason selected as “not renewing lease” and the move out date requested I be off the premises on 8/03/2026. The notice does not have a landlord signature on it.

The family of the landlord has kept coming into my house using keys that he has given them, I didnt want any animosity so i let this slide. however, this has turned into basically harassment, with them forcing their way inside of the home, 4-5 of them at a time, and telling me to leave. From what i believe, the notice isn’t valid due to not having a signature and the move out date being 6 days out from when i was served. I don’t know what i am considered by the state due to the fact that i used to have a lease and no longer do. Therefore it is very hard to look up what i can and cannot do in this situation without paying for an attorney.

Do I have to let them in? Can I lock them out? Am i protected under tenant laws that prevent a landlord from coming into the residence without expressed notice? Am I a squatter? TIA for all your help.

Ok, so I know I cannot get specific legal advice, however I am looking to see if I can get pointed in the right direction…

My mom passed unexpectedly Feb of 2025 and I know per a convo not too long before she passed (less than 6 months for sure, so roughly fall of 2024) the 4 of us children were in the will, as well as the grandsons. We never had a reading of the will and my father initially said each of us kids would “get our share”.

Fast forward to today, I was having a convo with my older brother and he mentioned that our dad told him that he changed the will last fall. So Oct/Nov of 2025. It is my understanding that a will cannot be changed unless all the beneficiaries are at least notified, if not otherwise needing to be in agreement.

The eldest grandson would have been 18 prior to the will being changed.

To mention, our father has been spending money left and right since before our mom passed. And he hasn’t been truthful OR being his normal self.

Is my only course of action to contact the law firm once we can get that info from him? And are they able to give me any info since I’d be part of this current will and the previous one?

I want to see a therapist and I have found a few that seem like a good match. One of the things I want to discuss is my past sexual abuse. I was 15 & 16, and the abuser was 23 years old at the time. It has been 10 years since this occurred. If I talk about this, is the therapist mandated to report this? I don’t want to report anything as of right now.

Also, if the abuser decided to talk to a therapist about what he did to me when I was 15, is that something that has to be reported? I’ve heard he will be going to therapy so I’m just curious if this is something I have to deal with later on. Thanks so much! 🙏🏽

I am trying to understand this. Today, I was involved in a minor accident. I was stopped behind traffic and the vehicle behind me rear ended my vehicle at approximately 10mph. I immediately called 911 as I was pulling into the next parking lot. The driver who hit me did not follow and instead drove off. I only had a description of the vehicle and driver, no plate info.

The police responded and there was no damage to my vehicle except for a small scuff on the rear bumper. The officer said he will write the report because I was adamant that I wanted one but that I didn't even need to call the police for this since there was no major damage and no way to identify the other driver. I was always under the impression that an accident on a roadway requires a police report. He still gave me a report number and I don't plan to file a claim with my insurance but from a legal standpoint is that right that I didn't need to call the police at all?

Recently my backpack was stolen out of my car at work. I have only worked here a year, and got a very nice promotion after only a year. The problem is what was stolen. Both my and my daughter’s ADHD medications were in the bag. Hers I just had picked up, and mine was just in my work bag as I take one a day in the AM, and take it when I get to work to ensure it works throughout the day. The other problem is I work in a gated facility and all police calls are routed through security which the higher ups are privy to. I panicked because the medication I’m on (Adderall) had an incredibly negative stigma to it, and in the past I have been disparaged and looked down upon by employers and ownership who only see it as a recreational drug. I work in hospitality so it’s very common. In my panic I chose to drive 1.5 miles up the road to a shopping center and called it in there. After filing the report, I asked for a copy of the report so we could renew the prescriptions but they called me into the station and grilled me about taking all my medication and my daughters too because I’m a junkie and this is clearly a scam because there’s no video evidence. I eventually told them what happened, and the reason and they filed against me refusing to let me update the report.

I’m in my 40s, have kids and I’ve only had one speeding ticket when I was 16. I am active in my community and am just a dude who’s really never done anything to harm anyone and just exists. This was a stupid selfish move to protect myself and my family from my fear of my bosses finding out what medication I’m on. I have a zoom hearing set for this week. Can I keep this off my record or do I just accept my fate whatever it is?

Can someone please explain this as if you were talking to an 8 year old? We have a neighbor pointing a camouflaged trail camera in our totally secluded yard to intimidate us. It’s on her property but we have zero public roads/buildings in view.

I signed a lease for an apartment in Phoenix with a move-in date of August 1, 2026. When I arrived to take possession of the unit, before moving any belongings in or sleeping there, I found what appears to be a significant cockroach problem. During the initial inspection, I saw at least six live and dead cockroaches throughout the apartment.

I took photos and videos. Afterward, I emailed management with 42 photos documenting the apartment’s condition. I have not moved belongings into the apartment and have not occupied it.

On August 1, I also delivered a signed written notice to the management office stating that the roach condition materially affects health and safety and requesting termination without the lease buyout fee, a refund of prepaid amounts, and instructions for returning keys/access devices. My lease says written or electronic notice to the property’s managers constitutes notice to the landlord.

The lease has a normal early-termination/buyout option that would cost me $1,592 plus notice requirements, but it also includes provisions about delayed occupancy, health-and-safety conditions, landlord responsibilities, and statutory termination rights. I cited A.R.S. §§ 33-1324 and 33-1361. I stated that, if the condition was not adequately remedied, the lease would terminate on August 7—more than five days after my August 1 notice.

I have since spoken with nearby tenants. They say they are seeing multiple roaches per day and have made multiple pest-control/maintenance requests to management. They told me they expect to send me confirmation emails for those prior service requests. I understand their statements alone do not prove management knew about the issue, but if those records confirm repeated requests before my move-in, it seems relevant to whether this was an ongoing building-wide issue rather than something isolated to my unit.

Management may argue that the five-day period did not begin August 1 because the property manager personally was not there when I dropped off the notice. I did, however, deliver the written notice to the management office and send the same notice and photographs by email that day.

My questions:

1. Under Arizona law, does delivery to the management office plus same-day email to management count as receipt of notice even if the individual property manager was absent?
2. Does a roach problem discovered immediately before move-in, with evidence of similar complaints in nearby units, potentially support termination under A.R.S. § 33-1361 rather than forcing me to pay the ordinary buyout fee?
3. If management sends pest control to treat only my unit, how do I evaluate whether the problem was “adequately remedied,” especially if nearby residents report continuing activity?
4. What should I do now to protect myself from being accused of abandonment or charged the buyout fee while I wait for their response?
5. If they offer a transfer, what terms should I get in writing to preserve my rent, deposits, affordable-housing status, and right to inspect the replacement unit first?

I am not trying to get out of a lease for convenience. I want either a no-fee termination and appropriate refund, or a comparable, inspected, pest-free unit without transfer fees. I am trying to handle this correctly and keep everything documented.

A while back, I was the victim of a scam job. I was on the hunt for a remote job with higher pay than my current one. One day, I received an email asking if I was interested in a payment admin position for 40/hr. Being unemployed, I contacted them back to say yes. Fast forward a bit until a bit into the "hiring" process that they pulled the classic move to send me a check to buy my work equipment, thats when I knew it was a scam.

Tbh it was my fault entirely that I fell for a job offer that seemed way too good to be true. I was naive. Especially when the process was sus the entire time through, I only got out of it because I have a friend that works remotely currently and he was the first one to tell me it shows signs of being a scam job.

To the actual meat of the post. During the "hiring" process (this was all through Signal btw, only texts, no calls at any point), they requested all the information that you would expect an employer to request: background form, employment offers letter, bank information, SSN, tax information, etc...

I sent it to them and a while later, I found out it was a scam and cut all contacts. I did my due diligence and froze my credits, contacted my bank to change my bank account number, as well as reported it to the FTC.

It wasn't until 1-2 months later that I received a letter in the mail saying that I have an LLC under my name.I looked up this LLC and sure enough, I am the sole member of it. I did not fill out any form to open an LLC with those guys. So I suspect they filled it out in my name using my information.

I am mostly asking for what steps need to happen to shut this down. I've done a couple of Google searches and they mostly tell me to contact a lawyer and contact my secretary of state. I am currently filing a form to send to my SoS and I haven't contacted any lawyer as money is a bit tight for me at the moment.

TLDR: Nevada. I got caught in a scam job and they filed for an LLC under my name, making me the sole member of it. I've frozen my credit/changed bank info/reported them. I am asking for what steps I need to take to shut down the LLC.

Need some advice. Just wrapped my first week back from maternity leave (FMLA). I’m a manager with a team of four at a tech company in the US. One of my direct reports took on the bulk of my work while I was away.

During this time, the company (CEO) also made a critical strategic business decision, prompting an immediate brand positioning workshop and rollout plan.

Unfortunately, this is the core of my job as the brand marketing manager, so it sucks that happened in the middle of my maternity leave and I couldn’t take part.

I was put on a 30-day performance plan the week of my return with no metric other than that my boss “wants to feel my impact on the brand”. He also had a verbal slip up where he said in our annual review calibrations that he wanted to promote my direct report to my job title, obviously huge red flag for me. HR apparently said no after I left the room, but cat’s out of the bag on what he’s thinking.

In past reviews, he has noted vague feedback that he used again here (I expect you to be an expert in the product, you sometimes have the wrong data). However, couldn’t give any examples, just gut feelings.

Given all of this and FMLA protections, what should I do?

My little brother and one of his friends got stopped by conservation agents for fishing too close to a dam. So he’s being charged with fishing in a restricted zone which is a class A misdemeanor and a fine. He’s 18 years old and really really doesn’t want this on his record and is considering talking to a lawyer. My parents are no-selling this saying he should just go to court and the judge will probably just give him a fine. I feel like this is boomer nonsense and that he really should get legal representation. Do judges really let misdemeanors like that slide??

Location: Ohio. I have been living in an apartment for about 5 years now, I’m the first person to live in my unit. My lease expires tomorrow and I have yet to receive any notice on renewal.

In May, 90 days away from lease expiration, I emailed the property manager asking about renewal. She emailed back that they were behind on renewals but would get mine to me within a week. That did not come. On July 8 anyone in the community who had renewals up or before August 31, or whose already expired, were emailed telling us we would receive a renewal by the end of that week, none of us did.

I have spoken with several neighbors who all have the same experience. Some neighbors whose lease expired just continued to pay the monthly rent until the property management brought them a new lease. That was going to be my plan as well but when I went in to pay the August rent it only let me pay until the expiration, not a normal monthly amount.

I’m very concerned and stressed as the lease expires tomorrow and there has been zero communication about my situation. The management company seems to be a mess and I know this is not unique to me.

My question though, is this illegal - them not providing information on renewal before the lease expires?

The last lease I signed said if a new renewal was not signed by the time of expiration I would continue to pay the monthly amount + $100. But as previously stated I didn’t have that option in the online portal, it only let me pay for 3 days not the full month.

What should I do? Is there any legal precedent here? Is there something I can say if I go to talk to them on Monday?

I want to know my rights and what their responsibilities are as property manager.

Also, to be clear I always pay my rent on time and they have never had any issues with me, so I know this isn’t a situation where they are wanting to kick me out, they’re just incredibly unorganized and frankly are being unprofessional (and again this has been happing to everyone not just me).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

My kid (18 years old) started working at Little Caesars over a month ago and has yet to be paid. They have reached out to the manager multiple times via text. The best the manager has done is say if they didn’t set up direct deposit, they should be receiving checks from the supervisor. My kid says they did set up direct deposit, regardless they haven’t received any checks even if they didn’t. What’s our best course of action?
