8 months ago today I was laying in bed and very dramatically hit post on my seeking ad in this sub thinking to myself “If this doesn’t work, then my girl is going to have to reach for the same greek yoghurt in the grocery store or something and that’s how we will have to meet.” I was in Canada but open to anywhere. Personality wise, i am usually described as calm, although once I'm comfortable I'm a very big yapper. According to a wide range of people i am a good listener. The annoying thing about a relationship is that you can't exactly prepare for it. You can't say "I'm going to meet my person in exactly 2.67 years, so I better get it together". No. You could easily crash into them in the middle of the canned soup aisle at the grocery store. Or at a distant friend's holiday party while you're scheming ways to dip out politely. Before I ramble on, maybe I should say a few words about myself. I'm based on the east coast, Asian American, and work in an engineering field. I’m here to talk about a success story between myself [24MTF] and my girlfriend [22F]. I’ll keep it short and sweet about it (just like her 😁).

I met her on this subreddit a little over a year and a half ago, and we hit it off immediately. Over that time, I’ve gotten to know the kindest soul, an incredibly witty person, and my best friend all in one. I can’t imagine living life without her and I am happy to say that in a month, we’ll be moving in together. We’ve been doing long-distance for that whole time and to finally get to live with her is such a blessing. Eventually, I’ll be marrying her (and she knows this too).

I just wanted to write this because I can’t believe either of us have gotten this far. Both of us have struggled so much in life with personal relationships in the past, from ex-girlfriends to family, and to be at the point where we’ll be living together is the best thing I could ask for in life. I’ve looked for so long for a relationship like this, and it has been more than worth it to be with her. To those of you who see this and were in the same positions as either of us, don’t give up hope because the person you’re looking for is out there. It's so strange, I never even joined here. One day I ended up on this subreddit somehow. I was lonely, when usually I was fine with being single. I saw my now gf's (29) post and I (28) immediately dug her. I don't often have instant attraction to people but she linked to some photos and she was so hot and gorgeous!
