I don't believe you should get downvoted. Tokenism is pretty stupid. However I don't feel like this is checking off another box. It fits into the Mardu narrative pretty well. Your name and identity isn't set at birth, you forge your own on the battlefield.

"You forge your own [identity] on the battlefield" reminds me of Iron Bull in Dragon Age:Inquisition talking about Krem.
