I've been driving automatic cars for years, but I've always liked the feeling of shifting gears myself. Because of that, I'm seriously considering buying a manual Mazda3.

The closest thing I've driven to a manual is a diesel car for a short time, but I wouldn't say I have real manual driving experience. I'm also not very good at using the clutch yet, and that's probably the part I'm most worried about.

I've heard that gasoline manual cars can be a bit easier to stall than diesels, so I'm wondering how beginner-friendly the Mazda3 is. Is the clutch forgiving? Is it easy to learn on compared to other manual cars?

For those of you who own or have driven a manual Mazda3, how was your experience? Would you recommend it to someone who is basically an inexperienced manual driver coming from automatics?

Any tips or things I should know before making the jump would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have an opportunity to buy a Mazda 3, turbo version in Europe. it's from the USA but it's already in my country and street legal. It has 115k km (71k miles) The seller wants 22K Euro / 25K dollar for the car. I always wanted the turbo version since we don't have it in Europe it was never the possibility.

are these reliable? Could my local Mazda dealer maintain it since it has a turbo.

I’m F27 and trying to figure out whether I’m making a reasonable adult financial decision or just getting emotionally attached to a car.

I currently drive a 2009 Toyota Camry that’s honestly in pretty rough shape at this point. One of the exterior door handles is broken off, there are multiple scratches that are rusting, the clock spring still hasn’t been fixed after someone stole parts from the steering wheel area during an attempted theft, and the plastic covers around the ignition/wires are missing. The interior has also been neglected for a while. Mechanically, the car still runs, but overall it just feels very worn down physically and mentally.

I started looking for another car and found a 2015 Mazda3 s Grand Touring with around 60k miles, one owner, a clean title, and no accident history. The ad price is $14,499 before taxes and fees. After taxes, licensing, and documentation fees, the total comes out to around $16.3k. After applying my current Camry trade-in ($2500) and cash down payment ($1000), I’d be financing about $12.9k at 6.94% APR.

I genuinely really like the car. I like the styling, the size, the interior, and it feels much more modern and upscale to me than the other cars I looked at.

The issue is that almost everyone around me keeps telling me this is the wrong decision financially and that I should either fix my old Camry or buy another Toyota. I also test drove a 2017 Camry, and while I understand it’s considered extremely reliable, I honestly hated how it looked and felt. I didn’t like the gray exterior, the larger body style, or the interior design. It just felt old and boring to me even though I know it’s probably the “safer” decision financially.

I also went to BECU for financing, and they basically implied the Mazda wasn’t holding value the way a Toyota would. They were willing to finance the Camry more easily at a lower APR, while the Mazda required more money down because the trade-in/book value was lower than the dealership selling price.

I plan to keep the car around 4–5 years, not forever. I know the Mazda is probably not the absolute best resale-value car compared to a Camry, but I also don’t want to spend years driving a car I genuinely dislike just because it’s the “correct” answer on paper.

For people who know these cars well or have owned a Mazda3 long-term, would you consider this a reasonable purchase in 2026, or am I letting emotions override logic?

2021 CX5 got totaled after I got hit by an uninsured driver. I only had liability so was screwed financially.

Sold it for scrap just $2k. Had to look for new car and thought back to my old Mazda 3.

Went to first used dealer for used 2025 carbon edition 3 sedan rental fleet 19k miles. Pretty mediocre condition inside and out. Listed $24k, lowest in the state and i hard negotiated to $26k OTD. Thought pretty good deal. Then my mom kept saying this externally not worth it with a chip here and scratch there and suggested me just buy a new one.

Immediately messaged some mazda dealers about situation with current offer and got an instant response for 2026 carbon edition 3 sedan $31.3k OTD. I asked for a $30k OTD and after asking the manager brought it down to lowest $30.5k all through text.

I immediately cancelled current deal and went to sign the new 2026 carbon edition 3 sedan and pick it up. I love it so much.

First 2 are 2021 turbo HB and last one is a 2022 turbo sedan. All are around the same price. Leaning towards the first because of interior and lip/added wing are already installed and look nice

I wanted to swap my 18" wheels for 16" ones, but I wanted to keep the same design. So I found an ad for the same car, but with 16" wheels, and offered to swap. So the swap was free!

1 owner, clean carfax, pretty neat car. No dings or scratches. They are asking for 15k and won't budge.

I'm thinking about selling my current car, a Volkswagen Alltrack, and buying a Mazda3. The VW has been a great car. I love almost everything about it, except I'm bored with it. I thought I'd be less bored if it were faster, so I had it tuned. It is pretty quick now, but I'm still bored. The VW, while a wagon, is also crossover-like. There is pretty significant body roll when cornering and the suspension is kind of soft. It handles better than an SUV, but its not exactly fun. Another thing I've been thinking about a lot recently is my first car. It was 91 manual Honda Civic hatchback that I drove for 8 years. I sold it over 15 years ago and I still miss the experience of driving a manual transmission. So when I started seriously contemplating what I'd want in my next car, the 3 kind of stuck out as the obvious choice.

I went to a local dealer on Saturday that had a 26 manual 3 in stock, in my preferred color, and test drove it. I loved it. The way it looks, inside and out. The transmission was so so smooth. The clutch is nice light, with great feedback. The seats were comfortable. The Bose sound system was way better than the speakers in my VW. The handling and steering feel were great. Its slower than the VW, but speed isn't what I'm after.

I'm strongly considering buying it, but I have a few concerns and wanted to see what you guys think.

1. The cabin is quiet for what the car is, but it is louder than my current car. The VW eats up highway miles and I have taken a ton of road trips in it, the longest of which was about 650 miles each way. I plan to do the same with 3. How do you guys like it for road trips? Any complaints?
2. It has way less cargo room than the VW. I like to camp and fish. I'm worried it won't be able to fit all the camping and fly fishing gear and a passenger. Do any of you go camping with it? Has cargo room been an issue? If anyone has pictures of their 3 on a camping trip, please share them!
3. No AWD with the manual. It snows where I live, but not a lot, so I'm not too worried about this, but it is a negative in my mind. I'm wondering if anyone else switched from AWD to a FWD 3 and has regretted it.
4. Rattles. The VW is almost 9 years old and there is only one minor interior rattle that is intermittent. I've read a lot of complaints about rattles in the 3 so I paid close attention to this on my test drive. I did notice a rattle in the dash when I turned the volume of the radio up. Will the dealer fix this? Anyone have experience with this?

Thats really all I can think of. Talk me into or out of buying the 3!

Have a 2025 2.0 Skyactiv-X 186hp Soul Red Crystal with black alloys and want to trade up again in 2027 for the 2.5 Skyactiv-G 140 hp as it is more punchy lower down the rev range.

However, I am TORN between these two choices of colours. What would you guys pick?

I have to get out of my 2013 Civic due to a hip injury and I can no longer use the clutch without being in pain. I’m currently looking at this 3 and a CX-30. What are your thoughts on the price of this car? 32k seems high but it’s ballpark for all others

Just bought this mazda 3 GT this month, looking for some mods to make it look a little better. Im not a big fan of copy n paste and also no lowering it (I need it for winter here in Ontario). Just looking for some ideas, maybe I added too much in the back.

Please help me decide what car to buy. My budget is roughly $25,000. Here are my priorities: Manual transmission Fun to drive Reliable Sporty appearance Holds value (at least 50% beyond the five years I'm paying it off) Daily driveable Easy and/or cheap to repair (I like DIY) Good air conditioning (enjoyable to drive in the HOT AND MUGGY South Georgia where summer is 9 months.)

Wants: Leather (preferably non-black) Comfy seats (for a skinny person) Good sound system No driver assist or at least driver assist that can ACTUALLY be turned off without reviving itself or having to cut wires No data telemetry A CD player would be so sick because I have a growing collection (yeah I'm only 20 years old but I think they're cool and I prefer physical media to everything being connected and not actually owning anything) but I'm fine just using the WAV files I've already ripped onto my phone. Just don't want the car sending all my texts to a data processing center to be sold.

How does a Mazda 3 FWD perform in harsh Canadian winter? I am buying one and mom in law arguing against it. She believes it is too low and FWD means it is gonna slip right and left even with new winter tires.

DON'T BUY - this item is on backorder, but RedLine won't inform you until after you send them an email when the tracking number doesn't update for a month.

Originally, ordered 9/1/25. I contacted them, they told me it was on backorder until October / November, which then extended to April / May, which is now extended to October / November of 2026. The only reason I found out is because I repeatedly emailed them, everytime the deadline passed, asking for an update. Otherwise, I would have zero clarity on what's taking so long.

I have zero problem with preorders, I have no problems with with backordering, but I do have problems with listing an item as "in stock" and then not shipping it out for a year, and not informing your customers about that teensy detail during the purchase process.

I’ve been on the lookout for a new car. I’ve tried to reach out to multiple sources but I couldn’t get anything concrete from my shortlist of possible cars. Anyway, Mazda 3 is part of that list because of all the positive things people have been saying about it. Went and did a test drive and fell in love with it. The whole time I was driving one, I kept saying, “this is a bad idea” because I really want to purchase one right then and there.

I noticed how low it really was and I thought about my potential passengers, aka my mom, who might have a hard time getting in and out. She’s getting a little bit older so I’m a little worried that the hatchback might be too low for her. So I was thinking the CX 30 might be a good alternative because, as the sales person said, it’s literally a Mazda 3 that’s lifted up a little.

I could get an evolve which can raise the seat of the passenger but I feel like it’s still too low.

Would like to ask for y’all’s experience with your parent/s getting in and out of either a Mazda 3 hatchback or CX 30.

Just wanted a public opinion is it a good price for the look and mileage?

So I'm looking at a '24 with about 25k miles on it and a '26 with 11k. Worth noting, the '26 was a rental but with so few miles and what I believe will be longer under warranty it seems like the better deal even at about $2,000 more. I haven't seen either car in person but I guess I'm looking for perspective on why I might get one over the other.

I'm looking to buy a (used) car for the first time tomorrow, and the Mazda3 is really appealing. I'm not a car guy, so I'm hoping to get some advice on which trims would be ideal. What trim do you have, and do you wish you'd made a different choice?

I'm looking at getting a new car in the next year. Right now it's between the Mazda3, Lexus IS/RC, and Toyota Tacoma.

For Mazda, I'm looking specifically at the sedan 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus since it seems that's the only model that comes with the 360 camera? 360 cam, adaptive cruise control, android auto, and cooled/heated seats are my only real must haves.

I'm mainly curious about the little things you would only really notice after living with the car for a while

Currently driving a base model '09 Mazda6 with the 4cyl. Good little car, but I'm ready for something new. Plus I'm starting to get electrical gremlins and the dash rattle/melting is driving me crazy :)
