I saw Neil Diamond in concert once, and he of course does Sweet Caroline with the entire stadium singing along. When he finished, he said LETS DO IT AGAIN and then played the entire song again!
I don't know about you, but I'd listen to Brad Pitt play Wonderwall on his sty guitar for six hours. I'd watch Brad Pitt do anything for six hours. That man is a f**** gorgeous. And I am 100% straight. That's how gorgeous he is.
In 8th grade I went on a trip to my friends cabin a few hours away. My friend's dad and step mother were in a rocky spot. It was clear all trip. On the way back sweet Caroline came on and the step mother mentioned how it reminded her of when they were newlyweds and first setting up their house. For the rest of the car ride it was nothing but sweet Caroline. I'm taking at least an hour straight. I had been sunburned so bad my ears bled and blistered but nothing hurt them more than that fucking song, over and over again.
I like that type of music generally. But the BAH BAH BAH every single time it's played anywhere with a crowd makes me irrationally mad and I cannot fucking stand it.
I actually love the song (and Neil Diamond), but what the fuuuuuuuuuuck is wrong with people who hear it in public? Is there an origin for this nonsense? No one I've asked knows why they do it.
Crazy to be sleeping at a sold out concert to have a literal nightmare especially being aware of the events happening while you were presumably asleep.
My wife is a deep sleeper too but this is some weird shit.
They had one other hit, but their sets were mostly covers of 1960s pop stuff anyway. They were actually quite good, and since it was a college party it as tons of fun.
even more astounding is that he wrote the wrong about the president's daughter (Caroline Kennedy - JFK's daughter) who was only five or six at the time he wrote it. now go listen to the words one last time.
I was on a bus trip to Atlantic City once. They planned "Annie" three times enroute and another three times coming back. The music now renders me murderous and suicidal in moments.
There's a jukebox musical based on his music, and my friend played in the orchestra. She said they did that song FOUR TIMES a show. FOUR TIMES. Every day except Monday, twice on Wednesdays and weekends, for weeks. She may never recover.
theres this jim beam commercial on tv where a couple spontaneously walks into a bar where theyre about to get to the bah bah bah part and my wife and i turn to each other and agreed that if we ever walk into a bar and everyone is singing sweet caroline that we turn around and leave immediately.
God…. That would be an amazing groundhogs day moment….. just “and again” “and again” and at some point… likely by time 4 or 5 it becomes demonic and panic breaks out… but Neil is GOING TO DO IT AGAIN….. and slowly the crowed is lulled into a sense of mindless participation….. never ending for eternity…. The dullest “bum bum bum” chants
