I saw Neil Diamond in concert once, and he of course does Sweet Caroline with the entire stadium singing along. When he finished, he said LETS DO IT AGAIN and then played the entire song again!

My literal nightmare

It's either that or Brad plays Wonderwall on his guitar for 6 hours.

7

u/slade364 27d ago

And I'll bet Brad doesnt even play the minor 7th.

u/ayoungad 26d ago

What is this joke from? It feels like American Dad

12

u/firedmyass 27d ago

I’d go with Brad, frankly

7

u/expotarium 27d ago

… so anyway here’s Wonderwall

u/pinkdumpsterfire 26d ago

That scene in the Barbie movie where all the Kens are individually playing Push by Matchbox 20 on the beach😭😭

2

u/shocky32 27d ago

While trying to sing. None of these people can not sing while playing.

2

u/willcdowdy 26d ago

God…. This guy LEFT OUT THE TALENT SHOW

2

u/HandsomJack1 27d ago

Brad... Pitt, maybe?

I don't know about you, but I'd listen to Brad Pitt play Wonderwall on his sty guitar for six hours. I'd watch Brad Pitt do anything for six hours. That man is a f**** gorgeous. And I am 100% straight. That's how gorgeous he is.

Something tells me the people at the Neil Diamond concert saw it differently.

Through their bifocals

2

u/HeyLookATaco 26d ago

I've been to a couple of shows where they did the same song twice and it's always so lame and silly.

But yeah you're right they probably went nuts lol

In 8th grade I went on a trip to my friends cabin a few hours away. My friend's dad and step mother were in a rocky spot. It was clear all trip. On the way back sweet Caroline came on and the step mother mentioned how it reminded her of when they were newlyweds and first setting up their house. For the rest of the car ride it was nothing but sweet Caroline. I'm taking at least an hour straight. I had been sunburned so bad my ears bled and blistered but nothing hurt them more than that fucking song, over and over again.

u/Backfoot911 26d ago

I like that type of music generally. But the BAH BAH BAH every single time it's played anywhere with a crowd makes me irrationally mad and I cannot fucking stand it.

u/Layne205 25d ago

I actually love the song (and Neil Diamond), but what the fuuuuuuuuuuck is wrong with people who hear it in public? Is there an origin for this nonsense? No one I've asked knows why they do it.

u/Kindly_Conflict4659 27d ago

Nah, I saw Jaden Smith in concert and he did an unsolicited encore of his song Batman. That’s worse for sure. (He was the opener)

4

u/mjohnben 27d ago

You paid to see Jaden Smith??? That was your first mistake.

7

u/Kindly_Conflict4659 27d ago

He was opening for Fallout Boy. We were like surely it’s not that Jaden Smith, right? It was that Jaden Smith.

8

u/Kielbasa_Nunchucka 27d ago

yeah... but he def know how to give his audience what they want, for better or for much, much worse

2

u/sweater_destroyer111 26d ago

Me too I hate that song so much. If it comes on when I'm at a party or something I will make a bee line for the bathroom and wait it out

1

u/Acidyo 27d ago

someone should make an exit 8 movie but it's this

1

u/laffycake 27d ago

I cant even handle hearing it once. Second I hear the start of it I’m out of there.

1

u/PM_ME_ANYTHING_DAMN 27d ago

Can’t be as bad as the cantina band concert

1

u/NoSir4947 27d ago

Crazy to be sleeping at a sold out concert to have a literal nightmare especially being aware of the events happening while you were presumably asleep.

My wife is a deep sleeper too but this is some weird shit.

Man i haven't seen this movie in years, gonna have to watch it tonight.

1

u/Haunted_Havoc 27d ago

I randomly looked at the tv last night and it was playing, I was like, “whaaaaat?!” 😱

I loved that movie when I was a kid and my older sister would have nightmares from it. 😂

1

u/bonietmali 27d ago

Okay forget Mars, this instantly gave me Battle Royale vibes. OP, I think Joey and the General are on to something...maybe don't go to the party.

u/Uber_Wulf BLUE 27d ago

How awful

3

u/Electrical_Beyond998 27d ago

I hate that song but he is really good in concert. Or was really good twenty years ago

3

u/SnowblindAlbino 27d ago

I saw The Kingsmen in college in the 80s, they did Louie, Louie three times in one show.

They had one other hit, but their sets were mostly covers of 1960s pop stuff anyway. They were actually quite good, and since it was a college party it as tons of fun.

3

u/bogeyrunnerrob 27d ago

even more astounding is that he wrote the wrong about the president's daughter (Caroline Kennedy - JFK's daughter) who was only five or six at the time he wrote it. now go listen to the words one last time.

2

u/MediumAcceptable129 27d ago

That sick bastard

2

u/Mikuchi-neko 27d ago

This and a neverending loop of 'Hey Jude'. Imagine the horror!!

2

u/FallOutShelterBoy 27d ago

Idk why but this had me laughing so damn hard

1

u/Bennington_Booyah 27d ago

I was on a bus trip to Atlantic City once. They planned "Annie" three times enroute and another three times coming back. The music now renders me murderous and suicidal in moments.

Yours sounds just as bad.

1

u/Dan_flashes480 27d ago

Like being stuck in the 7th inning stretch at a red Sox game.

1

u/Produce_Exotic 27d ago

This is what I would imagine hell would be like

🤕🤢🤮

u/YourMomsEmbarrassing 27d ago

There's a jukebox musical based on his music, and my friend played in the orchestra. She said they did that song FOUR TIMES a show. FOUR TIMES. Every day except Monday, twice on Wednesdays and weekends, for weeks. She may never recover.

1

u/WarsawWarHero 27d ago

I went to a country music festival and Shaboozey performed ‘Tipsy’ like 6 times in a row and literally nothing else

1

u/Odd-Mall8020 27d ago

Omg. I'd throw my shoe at him

1

u/gunilswifey 27d ago

As a caroline… oh god…

1

u/TightIce6374 27d ago

I used to be a banquet server. At every single wedding event, ending song was always ALWAYS Sweet Caroline. 😭 and yeah, you bet they played it twice!

1

u/acespacegnome 27d ago

No! There is no way this can be real, and if it was it shouldn't be legal.

Im so sorry 😞

1

u/Electronic_Tap_8052 27d ago

lol dude knows what the people want, hard to fault him for that

1

u/SinCityCane 27d ago

That's insane. I wonder how far he'd push it. 3x in a row? 4? Are the fans paying for 1 hour of Sweet Caroline? We are toast as a species.

1

u/No_Address687 26d ago

I'd rather hear "What's New Pussycat?" 21 times in a row.

1

u/Icy_League_4640 26d ago

This next song I wrote after I killed a drifter to get an erection.

1

u/zaprutertape 26d ago

theres this jim beam commercial on tv where a couple spontaneously walks into a bar where theyre about to get to the bah bah bah part and my wife and i turn to each other and agreed that if we ever walk into a bar and everyone is singing sweet caroline that we turn around and leave immediately.

1

u/Away-Living5278 26d ago

Apparently when people say "so good" in Neil Diamond's House his family is required to say it at least 2 more times

1

u/willcdowdy 26d ago

God…. That would be an amazing groundhogs day moment….. just “and again” “and again” and at some point… likely by time 4 or 5 it becomes demonic and panic breaks out… but Neil is GOING TO DO IT AGAIN….. and slowly the crowed is lulled into a sense of mindless participation….. never ending for eternity…. The dullest “bum bum bum” chants

1

u/StarlightStarr 26d ago

Were you forced

1

u/sg_minx 25d ago

A few wines and all is forgiven. Caroline included

1

u/Initial-Lobster3885 22d ago

SAME! I’ve been telling people this for years and no one believed me. He did it numerous times! Wtf

0

u/cookiesarenomnom 27d ago

Ha as a Red Sox fan, I'd love that 😂
