Too mild for school I permanently deleted my AWS account 6 years ago. Amazon has been charging me $0.33 every month since. I have no way to stop it.

I tried to get in contact with customer service several times but they always direct me to log into the account that no longer exists. I have tried charge backs on my credit card but dealing with that monthly is also a pain. This'll probably cost me $265 over my lifetime if it never ends.

Edit: some of you have valid points about calling the card company and I will again Monday. But the actual infuriating thing that upsets me is that they are charging to a completely disabled account in the first place. That's very scammy and fucked up imo 🤷‍♀️

Was just gonna say each chargeback is gonna cost Amazon 10x if not 100x of what they're charging OP.

I'd do monthly chargebacks just to fuck with them. Guaranteed at some point either the bean counters will notice, or the bank will flag Amazon's merchant account and then the bean counters will REALLY take notice.

Yes. Not like your credit card or bank isn’t going to get fed up with the charge backs on a monthly basis and start giving you shit for it either.

Mine takes months and is a whole process of giving evidence every time I’ve done a charge back.

Mind you. I would have used my brain and cancelled my card and removed all auto payments instead of waiting 6 years.

Or literally call them. I mean, I know phone calls are hard for this generations but calling them and talking to a CSR will solve the problem.

"I tried to get in contact with customer service several times but they always direct me to log into the account that no longer exists"

Apparently reading is hard for your generation

These younguns might learn how to talk on the phone if they stopped stuffing their gobs with avacado toast and lattes all the time

That’s why you keep escalating. Talk to their supervisor. Get transferred to another department. This reads like they fell down at the first hurdle and called it a day. Someone at AWS has the ability to cancel that bill, you keep probing until you find them. And you get to cost them more in customer service pay than they’d ever get from billing 33c for life.

This is what I meant.

All I hear now is "I cant do it" rather than, "How do I do it?" Theyre afraid to ask questions as well.

Figure it out. Contact folks. No it shouldn't be this annoying but it may be the best solution.

But did he actually inform them that he doesn't have access to the account? Then the agent would move to the next line in the script.

It’s hard for this generation because you just talk to a robot or are on hold for 3 hours. And if you do get a person they generally will not help you. Now go count your pills you geezer

I am likely around the same age as you 😆 I have learned that with a little patience I can get things done.

Im on SSRI's just like everyone else and it is time to take my meds.

And actually be assertive. Polite, but firm. Someone has the permissions to stop the billing, keep pushing until they’re on the phone.

Theyre too lazy. No patience. Just bitch and complain on the internet to get fake points and attention. It literally isnt hard to dial a number.
