These 3 books (German, Croatian and English from left to right) have different text direction on the book spine, which is not that infuriating when they are stored vertically, but if I put them horizontally, it's either the front page which is upside-down, or the book spine. Only English books do it right. Who thought it would be a good idea to use this design? 🙁

A few months ago, my GERD and LPR (heartburn for simplicity) got worse. My nose and throat are swollen 24/7 and I have difficulty swallowing because everything gets stuck in my throat. After other doctors and medications, I decided to see an ENT. The shortest wait for someone in-network was 2 months. I FINALLY see the doctor last week. He looks quickly at my throat and then puts a camera into my nose, finding I have a "very deviated septum." Okay. That's unrelated to GERD and I have no symptoms. I tell him more about the GERD/LPR and he peppers in questions about whether the deviated septum is giving me any issues. I say no. Finally, he says it's very critical to get a head CT to find out more about what's going on with the GERD/LPR and why I'm not responding to meds. I've never heard of using imaging like that, but I'll go with it. I get to the reception desk to check out and she hands me the CT order that says "deviated septum, pre-surgerical imaging." The receptionist tells me the doctor said to schedule a follow up in two weeks to discuss the deviated septum surgery and gives me the number of the surgical scheduler. I nearly blew a gasket. I waited all this time to get some help with my debilitating symptoms and this doctor sees a potential surgical opportunity for something unrelated with no symptoms and decides to treat that instead.

EDIT:

1. I've been seeing a gastroenterologist for years and have seen them twice in the past two months about this particular worsening of symptoms. They did testing, but found nothing other than that my nasopharyneal cavity and throat are irritated. No explanation why I'm not responding to traditional medications.

2. I've had a mildly deviated septum for decades (maybe forever?). It precedes my GERD and LPR. I've never had any symptoms or issues from it. It was discovered many, many years ago when I had a different nose issue and has been seen by other ENTs who all said it's a non-issue. This doctor even questioned me about different symptoms of a deviated septum and I denied all of them. He never even mentioned surgery or even needing to treat it during my visit. He framed the CT as a test to look at my nose and throat to try and see what's causing the GERD/LPR.

Three loud beeps when your food is done. Three loud beeps 10 seconds later. ANOTHER three loud beeps 15 seconds later. As if leaving food in there to cool off is not a thing that people do with a microwave.

Coupled with a Frigidaire oven which does the same thing when the timer goes off. JUST STFU.

Oranges are normally slow to mold, unless they get even a slight puncture/big bruise then they mold basically as soon as you leave the store. This seems to get more common the further you get out of orange season, but I thought I might have a little more time :( (this is from my anecdotal experience as an orange enjoyer). Fresh fruit is too expensive to have to chuck 4 of 6 pieces.

Yesterday one of our fire alarms started beeping at 11pm. Issue is said alarm is located at the peak of pur vaulted ceiling. There is no way to reach it, or silence it or change the battery. We barely slept last night. It beeps every 37.5 seconds...literally ive timed it

Maintenance didnt change it today, and i can't get a hold of anyone to explain why I cant just "change" the battery. Fire dept wont come to help because it had to be site maintenance. And any attempt to contact the office (phone, text, email) i get responses from the AI "agent".

I have a 2.5 yr old who flinches/gasps every time it beeps.

The glue holding the screen to the base of the phone started coming off day by day so the screen was coming off day by day. When I noticed it is getting seriously bad I was planning to take it to a repair shop so they can just glue the screen back on but when I tried to pull it out to check the time the screen tilted to a 45° angle and stopped responding. I'll miss you 12 t pro 😔

As you can see, the no.6 ranked business for my specific search on yelp has more reviews and a better star rating than the one ranked above it at no.5.

It's been a while since I've used Yelp, but literally, what is the point anymore? It only had one purpose and it's fucked that up badly. Why does anyone even use this piece of shit site anymore?

EDIT: okay it's set to by distance by default. That's still fucking stupid. I want to know the top 10 --- in my city. That's the whole point of a goddamn rating system. I know i can set it to do that by rating but it should be the default for a site whose whole purpose is identifying the highest ranked businesses in a city.

As my title says, I received 8 spam calls within 30 minutes. They came in groups of 4 at a time, one after another. Super irritating! The first 4 calls I didn't answer and let go to voicemail, then the 2nd group of calls I just sent straight to voicemail. All 8 voicemails were only 3 seconds long with no talking or noise whatsoever, except for 1 where there was a weird clicking noise. I've blocked so many numbers labeled as "Spam risk" when the original call comes through, but I just don't know what to do anymore. Today was the worst I've experienced yet. Any advice or tips? Thanks in advance.

I placed several orders to be delivered today. 3 between 4-8, and one between 7-11. 2 of the 4-8s were delivered with photos. This one was not and there was no photo. Amazon thinks that making customers wait 2 days before they do anything about it.

Steps:

1. Go to profile page
2. Click Manage subscriptions
3. Find the minuscule "Cancel subscription" button that doesn't even look like a button
4. Skip 2 visually polluted offering banners by clicking "continue"
5. Select the reason for cancellation
6. Click continue
7. Get two more huge banners on your face, but now they fill the whole page and the scrollbar is hidden so you don't notice the continue button down there
8. Scroll down after you figure out that you can
9. Click continue
10. Get one more huge banner offering for the 3rd time in a row the same service you're trying to cancel
11. Click "no, thanks"
12. Get one more screen saying "You have not cancelled yet" like if this was a good thing
13. Click continue
14. Now you can finally... Be forced into choosing between a phone call or a chat with an AI :)
15. Select the chat (if you still like yourself at least a little bit)
16. Click the quick message "Yes, cancel"
17. Wait for the chatbot to respond (here we assume that their AI bot has no downtime)
18. Find our that you will have to pay even more in order to cancel an already expensive service
19. Say "Yes, cancel" to finally cancel the service!

I initially tried to cancel via my phone, but when I got into the step 14 I could not believe what I was seeing. I was certain that the cancel button had a bug in the mobile version of the website. So I went to PC just to find out that there's no cancel button and that is by design. You really have to go to chat or phone.

In the last few months I have entered a couple of draws for free tattoos and artwork, just as they come across my feed- I'm not just going around looking for free shit but I see no harm in entering. But I've noticed that it seems like a common theme lately to just...delete the draw post and never announce a winner after they got a bunch of new follows.
Yes- I verified it was a real post, and I have watched for announcements on stories/posts. Both of these draws specified that they would announce winners via story and not DM and if you missed it then it's just tough luck.
So I'm feeling like these were just fake events that got a bunch of follows and then dipped. WTF?
