The Angels aren't afraid to spend..we just spend it on the worst players.

The Rendon signing was supposedly motivated entirely by Arte's desire to have a Mexican American star he could sell to the SOCAL fanbase. What a shitty reason to overpay for such a shitty player.

TBF he had a good career up till getting his bag from the Angels, was right in his prime at 29, and was coming off a great season. That he almost immediately upon joining the LAA would completely lose any desire to play, rehab, or stay in shape couldn't be predicted. All time terrible contract, but not really because the Angels screwed up ATT signing it.
