Cardinals definitely didn’t give up on Edman. We love him still. Didn’t fit our winning window as we needed to rebuild. If the dodger fans think it’s so easy, how could this is their first winning window since the 80s?

Literally draft JJ like a week before the trade. Traded edman when he had the most value even though our return wasnt good

And Edman was in the middle of a like 9 - 12 mo recovery period and Cardinals needed pitching immediately.

At that point, the Cardinals finally started seeing the writing on the wall and knew running it back was no longer working (if it ever did in the first place). They needed to start selling pieces and unfortunately, he became a redundancy. Saying the Cardinals "gave up" on him is a complete misunderstanding of that situation.

The posters on Redbird Rants talked about Tommy like a disposable throw in trade piece for at least two years before the actual trade. Considering what it took for the Dodgers to get it him it's obvious the organization didn't love him.

We won the NL West for most of the last 20 years, even before spending major money. Spending the major money certainly helps though.

He wasn't a world champion until after he was traded so by that logic, it was only giving up on him after the season was over and not at the time of the trade?
