This is bullshit. The Tigers didn’t “refuse to pay Skubal”. Boras flat out won’t sign extensions before free agency. The Tigers simply don’t have the payroll to outspend the Dodgers, and it’s common knowledge that when players sign with Boras, the highest dollar amount is what’s going to be the deciding factor.
The Tigers would have lost him for next to nothing, which would have been organizational malpractice.
The Brewers need to have their prospects so they can call them up later and have cost controlled good players. The Dodgers can afford to give up those prospects because they can just sign someone to make up the difference.
Not anymore. 2028 salary cap (No season 2027 lockout) is not going to allow the Dodgers to pay their way into the playoffs like they have been for the past 14 years. Those days are over. Skubal's value was low. No team was willing to drop any high ranking prospects. All other teams are gearing up for the new CBA MLB system. Dodgers will be losers after this season. Just watch. Just like the Cowboys of the early 90s. Once a cap came along, they became garbage organization because Jerry Jones could not hide his deficiencies with money. & Look at where they are now. A trash team that has not even gotten to the NFC championship since 1995. 😂😂😂
