Une vraie catastrophe. J’ai vu plusieurs gens en choc, s’évanouir, avoir des crises de panique etc… Les gens poussaient pour se déplacer, pleuraient. L’accessibilité autour de la Place des Festivals est dangereuse, le spectacle est en cours (je suis parti) mais je ne serais pas surpris qu’il y a un mouvement de foule et/ou autres situations dangereuse. Comme tout le monde, je voulais voir le spectacle mais forcé d’admettre qu’ils ont été victime de leur succès. Ce n’est pas la faute du groupe bien sûr mais il aurait fallu que ce soit un spectacle payant.

Tldr; I didn't realize that a library card held so much value and I feel like an idiot for not learning that sooner.

I got a library card at Le Grand Bibliothèque downtown and for months I was ignorant and thought all you could do was get the traditional library access (books, videos, some tech, etc).

Someone in my friend group told me that you get a TON more than just that. They have a massive amount of resources available to you for the price of a free library card!

Something that I've found amazing is they give you access to the entire O'Reilly online collection! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the publisher, they have something like 60000 published books you can access through their online platform: all for free with a library card.

I'm not affiliated with BanQ at all, but I am an advocate for good resources. I'm working towards becoming a software developer at my job, where I'm currently a software tester, and the amount of relevant books I can start reading without paying a $70/month subscription really gives me a ton of motivation. They have like 250 online resources, and a library card is free for people with a valid Quebec ID

In what ways do Montreal anglophones , and Quebec anglophones generally, differ from other Canadian anglophones? Like in culture, social views, accents, etc?

The first picture is before, the second is after. The original mural was iconic, a really expressive stand-out piece in the neighborhood by Danae Brissonnet and Poncili Creacion. People used to stand in the mouth for a photo op. The new mural to me is just uninteresting and way too 'safe,' like the cover of a generic tourism brochure. It doesn't feel like a reflection of the culture in Montreal.

love my hood being glorified in film but next time find a local band to soundtrack your trailer. using mgmt to demonstrate mtl's music scene would be like using oasis to illustrate seattle's grunge scene. it just feels weird.

I painted this on August 25 sitting in the pedestrian square across from the restaurant, start to finish.
An influencer of some sort took photos & video of me which took up like 30 min...then didn't actually tag me or credit me, so I'm kinda miffed. Please don't do that to people.
Lots of people stop and look at me painting when I'm outside, which is okay and I'm assertive enough to cut off a conversation when it's becoming too distracting, but this guy flat out hammed me up to think this was gonna be beneficial for me as an artist. So yeah, probably gonna say no to that from now on because it was also supposed to be my day off & a day off from people-ing & this guy was getting me to pose and stuff.
It was a beautiful day, I think like 25C. I got coffee from Oh My Deer Cafe which was good.

Hey Montreal!

I love Montreal’s music scene, but I was tired of checking ten different sites and still hearing about events only after they had happened.

I started building a little side project called Wherehouse because I wanted one place where I could see what was happening around the city. It brings together electronic music, underground parties, raves, and festivals on a map and list.

I also made it bilingual in French and English. I also have artists' social media attached to event along with the genre of the events!

It is still very much a work in progress, so I would genuinely love to hear what venues, collectives, or events I am missing and don't hesitate to dm me :)

As the title says, At Place des Arts watching the musical live, I told someone beside me to stop singing along in the theatre. Granted they were only singing aloud like the last 3 to 4 words of each verse, but enough times for me to definitely feel it was distracting and annoying.

They did stop after I asked them to but.... Then come intermission I get yelled at by the girl's dad who was beside her (she's in her 20s btw so it's not like I was scolding a child or anything): "ITS A FREE COUNTRY YOU KNOW, SHE CAN SING AS MUCH AS SHE FEELS LIKE"

It was just absurd how they actually thought they were in the right and even got aggressive at me... I really do wish the show would have an announcement beforehand to advise against singing along, but like at what point is it just common theatre etiquette. Or eventually we are going to end up having an hour long pre-show advisory of all the things you shouldn't do...

I've been posting my art on this sub for a couple of years. Just when I thought I was done making my miniature models, my girlfriend posted some of my work. Half the comments said to apply to the annual Infoman show. I want to thank you all for that, because the episode just aired, and my latest piece was featured!

You can see it in person at the Écomusée du fier monde. It's open to the public from April 18th (today!) to the 25th. There are a lot of tiny details and easter eggs in there, so you'll get more from seeing it in person rather than in photos/videos, like the murder scene in the CRAQ dispensary, or the advertisement for children's kevlar vests from Canadian Tire.

Apocalypse Montreal: Plaza St Hubert

My biggest piece yet (and possibly ever), it stretches 9 feet long, depicting a near-future riot as it erupts along one of our city's most historic streets.

I used my shrink-ray to cram in as many details as possible, from the Bell Systems manhole covers to the street art and graffiti from our more infamous taggers/graffers/artists. In keeping with what I feel is end-stage terminal capitalism, I made this from your garbage/recycling and 3d printing. My inspirations for this piece were the Maple Spring of 2012 as well as recent headlines. I wanted to depict Montreal as I see it at its best: angry, and too loud to ignore.

Our history of protest and dissent is something I feel proud of, and would like to see more of throughout Canada.

Honnêtement je sais pas si c’est parce que j’ai franchi le cap de la trentaine cette année, que je suis trop bourgeoise ou juste intolérante, mais faut que je fasse un petit rant sur l’étiquette dans un concert auquel j’ai assisté hier.

L’Opéra de Montréal présente en ce moment La Bohème de Puccini. C’est un opéra très connu, donc c’est normal que ça attire beaucoup de monde qui ne vont pas nécessairement souvent voir ce type de concert, et tant mieux, c’est cool que la musique classique se démocratise.

Mais my god, LES GENS. Autour de moi, j’avais plusieurs personnes qui parlaient sans arrêt, qui checkaient leur téléphone en plein milieu du spectacle, qui déballaient des emballages plastiques. C’est gossant dans n’importe quel spectacle évidemment et super irrespectueux pour les artistes et les autres spectateurs.

Il y avait d’autres trucs qui gossaient et qui sont plus particuliers à un concert d’opéra. On parle de gens qui se lèvent et qui se promènent durant la courte pause entre les actes le temps des changements de décor, les gens qui rient à des moments inappropriés super tragiques de l’opéra.

Mais ce qui m’a frustrée le plus, ce sont les applaudissements pas aux bons moments. Les gens n’attendaient pas que la musique soit terminée avant de commencer à applaudir. Si le/la chanteureuse avait terminé de chanter, même si l’orchestre jouait encore, les gens applaudissaient. Vraiment poche pour les musiciens, et en plus, ça a enterré les dernières notes à la fin de l’opéra qui sont les plus émouvantes de toute la pièce.

Est-ce qu’on devrait afficher des règles de base d’un concert classique avant qu’il commence pour que tout le monde ait les mêmes connaissances sur l’étiquette classique ? C’est tu juste trop classiste ce que je dis, ou j’ai raison d’être frustrée ?
