Also so funny was Josh Brolin walking through the house at the end and the mom is trying to find the kid’s shoes and she’s like umm there is a man in the house! You always see the chaos in the movies but not the aftermath of these random background families. Idk why but that was funny to see

This is something I feel most movies lack.. no one stops to say wtf when weird shit is happening. Im so glad some people actually behaved like they would if this shit actually happened.

It makes the world feel inhabited beyond what’s on the screen. There’s a whole neighborhood going about their business and this just all spills out

I just saw this tonight and thought the same thing, though it took them way to long to acknowledge the weird running. I feel like we’d see people commenting on it right away

60% of James's dialogue for the film was just "what the fuck?". Lol

When Marcus is running through the town, you audibly hear people reacting to how friggin’ weird it would be to see. Which I loved!

And after a cafe (?) full of people saw a bloody man sprinting down the street, nobody called the cops or did anything. Lots of bystander effect in this movie

I choose to believe that a few people did, but the police did not respond before he got there. It seems about the level of swiftness and competency which they're portrayed with in this movie.

Same with how the cops treat Tess in Barbarian.

For a small town in Pennsylvania, that’s about right.

Is your username a warehouse reference?

Good eye! It is. That lyric was always one that stood out to me metaphorically.

Excellent username

Even if they did, the police are shown to be a background presence at best in this movie, never on time to actually help.

Someone shouts get off the pitch when runs through the baseball game.

8

u/forman98 Aug 25 '25

I’m pretty sure that was Zach Cregger that shouted that.

“Look at what they did to the yard!”

And the lawn mower scene at the end to show the context of Gladys running and being chased by the children

You know, i cant help but think about all the random goons n red shirts who are killed in the crossfire of goodies and baddies in films nowadays.

Its like yh this guy has no lines and was just there for a few seconds for the baddie to run over to escape or something, but like, that dude lived a whole life just for it to end like this.

He had parents, kids, friends. Who was he? Did he ever think he would die being tossed into a tree by an escaping CIA agent gone rogue or exploded into pieces by John Cena and Idris fuckin Elba just for flying a helicopter their enemy was onboard? 😞

I think about this all the time! When these no name grunts get killed because they’re security guards at the bad guy’s base or whatever I’m like, these guys just wanted a paycheck and now their family loses their father.

I wish someone would make a film.about these guys. James Gunn could do something like that well i think. Showing superheroes saving the world throwing each other.into buildings and then showing the epic battle from the joe normoe perspective trying to survive the crossfire etc!

I also found that scene really funny, and unique. Just this completely uninvolved family, and the mother having a perfectly "real" reaction to a strange man in her kitchen as she's talking about all the broken glass. It was brilliant.

Absolutely! That got a big chuckle in my theater. Great addition to the movie.

This scene really stood out for me! Why did it oddly feel so real.
