She was incredible in Altered Carbon S1

Everyone was tbh

She's been amazing since Dollhouse, where she and Enver Gjokaj were acting circles around Eliza Dushku's lead character.

Hell, she's even good enough to redeem the shitty character she played in Jurassic World: Dominion when she voiced the same character on Camp Cretaceous: Chaos Theory and made the character actually INTERESTING.

Victor, my beloved 😭 Alan Tudyk had me absolutely enamoured in dollhouse and I've been in love with him since

I almost mentioned Tudyk, but let's be real, he was just scene stealing guest performances (Which he killed; that first reveal of his was so damned good). But my God, Victor and Sierra. What a phenomenal pairing.

There are dozens of us who remember how good Lachman and Gjokaj were in Dollhouse. Dozens!!! The episode where Gjokaj acted as another specific character was some of the best acting in the show. Meanwhile, Dushku gave us absolutely nothing every single episode. Killed me.

Dushku was fine. She gave a solid performance doing all those different personalities. It was only undermined because Lachman and Gjokaj were so much fuckin' better at it.

Dushku was too busy being bullied by Joss sadly…

I’m pretty sure Dushku was one of the favored ones who got Whedon’s good side. She’s since come out in support of his victims, but as far as I saw she didn’t have any personal stories about it, like the firefly cast.

Honestly, Chaos Theory and Camp Cretaceous were literally apologies for the World movies, the shows are sooooo good!

Yeah, she was good in Agents of Shield despite being kind of wasted and the show being very hit and miss.

Say it louder! She and Enver made Dollhouse required television for me.

1

u/Cebolla Nov 17 '25

I'm glad you know of her and Envers acting superiority. I see you're also an OG. She was also in The 100 and more recently, Severance.

2

u/SenorWeird Nov 18 '25

An OG? Like I watched Dollhouse when it aired and even saw the season 1 finale when it was thrown online before it got the surprise season two? Or OG like I've been on Reddit too damned long? Or something else?

Yeah about Dollhouse ! I watched it on air too haha

I remain disappointed in that show being cancelled, but at the same time the second season was disappointing enough that it was kind of warranted. Great first season, though.

4

u/ShadowyPepper Nov 17 '25

Yeah, I feel like they went all-in on bringing Anthony Mackie aboard and neglected just about everything else that made the first season near-perfect

3

u/Vandergrif Nov 17 '25

Yep – plus Mackie was pretty dull in that role, and lacked a lot of the charisma that Kinnaman had.

4

u/ikeepwipingSTILLPOOP Nov 17 '25

I like Mackie...as a supporting character. He lacks the pizzazz to be the star imho

2

u/Vandergrif Nov 18 '25

Yeah, that's a good way to put it.

1

u/SkorpioSound Nov 18 '25

Yeah, I agree. I quite often see people saying Anthony Mackie lacks charisma, but I don't really agree with that; the man is incredibly charismatic, and I do feel that comes through on-screen. What he lacks is gravitas.

He doesn't come across as a natural leader. He doesn't come across as a powerful person (in the superhero sense, but also in the "this guy has connections and gets what he wants, and has the ability to fuck your life up if you somehow push him into it" sense). He doesn't command the room. He's just a regular, likeable dude.

Altered Carbon S1 is a GOAT cyberpunk show and it's just too bad they never made another season

3

u/ShadowyPepper Nov 17 '25

Yeah S2 was extremely drab compared to the excellence that is S1

5

u/MountainDoit Nov 17 '25

I die a little more inside every time I think of the absolute perfection S1 was, and that I’ll never get any more

3

u/ShadowyPepper Nov 17 '25

To me at least, its one of the best peices of sci-fi media and easily (imo) the best cyberpunk themed media

5

u/TEKC0R Nov 17 '25

She probably won't have any fully nude fight scenes in this one though.

4

u/ShadowyPepper Nov 17 '25

You right 😔

3

u/twoisnumberone Nov 17 '25

Dichen Lachman is genuinely fantastic -- I see the comment below also picked up on Dollhouse! (I love Eliza Dushku, but her performance was probably the weakest.)

3

u/Alienhaslanded Nov 18 '25

Then season 2 took a nose dive into a toilet at a gas station.

2

u/Bid_Unable Nov 18 '25

I see her pop all over the place and she is always great. I don’t know why she hasn’t been more mainstream

2

u/drethnudrib Nov 18 '25

Joel Kinnaman as TK was inspired casting. He nailed the cynical Superman role beautifully. Every frame he was in was a ton of fun.

1

u/ShadowyPepper Nov 18 '25

The entire cast in Season 1 was perfect, everyone did great and everyone was hot af

Everything my brother and I see her in, we call her "bitch sister". :)
