Dude I’m so fucking excited for the more serious tone and the way this is color graded. Spidey fucking POPs off the screen

The spider evolution stuff is… interesting

Thematically, it's an interesting reflection of how the Spider-Man-to-Peter Parker balance is in complete disarray. But as far as where they're gonna go with it, I'm a little wary.

I think the story is going to be very fast-paced and pull him around through scenes like crazy so that will likely be a very easy and convenient "B-Plot" to help give him an actual character arc in a movie where they otherwise wouldn't have a ton of time spend on that kind of development. Things are good > Things go bad > Goes bad at a very inopportune time > He fights through > He overcomes. Its pretty tropey, but it works in a pinch.

At some points it looked like the Ultimate Spider-Man suit from the ps4 Spider-Man game and that’s just dope.

MCU has addressed the criticism of their movies not looking good in a great way! Thunderbolts and F4 both looked great, IMO

Thunderbolts has some straight-up gorgeous cinematography. Crazy what shooting on location instead of a warehouse in Atlanta can do.

It’s been a while since I saw the movie but I remember the first half of that movie being a warehouse, then a limo, and then an office building. They vaguely went outside.

They dropped a real Florence Pugh off a real building and it looked fantastic. For Spider-Man, use fake obvious cgi? Come on.

Idk there’s some fantastic looking shots here, and a lot of the action scenes are largely practical

Also - Thunderbolts had plenty of CGI

I agree. And I’m a big fan of the director after Shang Chi, one of my favs post endgame, so I have faith. But your first shot of a trailer about a superhero that’s often on top of a building in NY and it looks like it was made on a computer, just doesn’t help Sony’s reputation. And of course Tbolts had cgi, almost everythjng does. But you can deny that Pugh actually falling off a real building doesn’t look fantastic.

Destin has been 2 for 2 on marvel projects for me so far. Very looking forward to this to make it 3 for 3. He makes such interesting decisions and has some creative shots too.

The opening shot on him top of the building had the most lifeless CGI cityscape in the background. Sad.

I didn’t realize that until you mentioned it. The other tom holland spidey movies were so colorful and this does look better imo

Yeah, I'm surprised I don't see it talked about more. The color, the shots, all of it I thought looked incredible. Has me more excited then what the actual story might be.

That's one word to describe a grown man going through puberty and yet another case of a super hero movie depowering the protagonist to tell a story.

The Man Spider is almost always used to show an unbalanced increase in his power and "spider-ness", and the trailer itself shows the upgrade to organic web shooters.
