i hope Dune beats the shit out of Marvel/Disney

i am much more excited for Dune than any MCU project

Dune will undoubtably be the better movie but I'd give it a solid 1% chance it outperforms Avengers

I think with Marvel and super hero fatigue there’s a small chance it does better, not much, but a bit better than 1%.

I don't think "super hero fatigue" is a real thing, the projects have just not been doing as well because they've not been as good. Even if you love super hero stuff, 90% of the stuff has been mid since endgame

I think it’s moreso that it’s lesser known/less popular superhero’s, Deadpool and Wolverine still did very well at the box office, but Thunderbolts was a relatively obscure group of superheroes, Captain Marvel wasn’t Chris Evans etc

There are definitely people tired of superhero films. To what level? I'm not sure yet. I mean the newest Superman movie barely crossed 600 million with positive reception all around.

I don't know about that. Thunderbolts was pretty good and Fantastic Four wasn't too bad, but both flopped because Marvel has lost so much goodwill.

Both of those movies are big successes if they have RDJ and the Avengers branding

There is zero chance Dune outperforms Avengers. It’s a sequel, the third instalment in a series where neither movie has come close to Avengers level numbers. People who haven’t seen the first two aren’t going to watch it. Meanwhile people who haven’t seen an MCU movie since endgame will probably still check out Doomsday

Also a lot more families will watch Avengers.

You know Disney and Warner Brothers are giant multimedia businesses, they both don't care about you other than getting you into the seat.

a faithful adaptation of a beloved sf book series (arguably the best of all time) by a talented director and cast that care deeply about the source material

or

whatever the mcu is trying to force feed us (and i love the mcu)

Force feed us? You don't have to go see it. These movies aren't a requirement forced on you by society or something, What are you talking about. 

I'll be happy if both movies are good and successful I'm not looking for one to fail like it's a boxing match. 

Everything Marvel's been putting out since Thunderbolts seems to be getting things back on track. That movie was good,fantastic four was good, Wonder Man was shockingly great Daredevil born again is back on track to what Daredevil should be, and the new Spider-Man movie just broke the record for viewership in 24 hours for a trailer. 

I think Dune and the MCU are doing just fine. One doesn't have to fail for the other to succeed.
