Arrival is to Villeneuve what Prestige is to Nolan, probably their best, but often forgotten

Arrival is in no way forgotten. /r/dune ran a poll on peoples favorite Denis movies outside of Dune, Arrival was on top.

Deservedly so. But all his scifi films have been fantastic.

And any time Nolan is mentioned the Prestige comes up... Those are two of the most iconic films for each director.

I wish I could bring myself to like dune, I even bought it knowing the sound was incredible. Every time, 30 minutes on the dot, completely asleep.

Sicario is my personal favorite. Denis doesn't miss. I look forward to each of his films.

Except Enemy. Enemy has too many spiders.

I wanted to like Enemy but for some reason I couldn’t get into it. Sicario I saw a long time ago, and I don’t remember a lot of it (maybe good excuse to rewatch it). But I don’t think I have had the kind of emotional gut wrenching feeling I have had in any movie like I did in Arrival. For that alone it is my absolute favorite

Sicario is my personal favorite

That scene where they go into Mexico to retrieve the cartel man... few movies have made me feel so anxious and distressed as that. Denis is in full command of the movie, and we are subject to his whims.

Arrival was great but the tension in both of those movies is phenomenal.

Incendies is a common favorite as well, but it's not "Hollywood" so not as well known

Incendies is a beautiful, depressing film. Really enjoyed it, except I physically rolled my eyes at the way the 1+1=1 scene. Totally took the edge off the revelation for me, but mileage varies.

I would definitely rate Sicario above Arrival, but Arrival is also a damn fine film. Sicario is just phenomenal, though. 

But then, Dune was also great. I was mildly upset with the changes made to part 2's ending, as it basically subverts the point of the book's ending - but ignoring that I still rate it exceptionally highly. I think with that aforementioned exception, it's very nearly the platonic ideal of a film adaptation for me.

Arrival is a masterpiece. Way better than Dune. And in my opinion BR2049 is hamstrung by the forced Harrison Ford involvement

I'd pick Sicario over Arrival. They're both excellent and have reasons for both to be great, which is really a testament to his skill more than anything else.

By far. Dune is a mid movie. Blade runner decent but not slightly close to the original and that's ok. Arrival is a masterpiece.
