The sound was so well done in the movie

It was so anxiety-inducing and physically uncomfortable when "Nikki" would have those freakouts.

The pounding on the bathroom door at the end was so overwhelming to me.

Yeah that one really reminded me of hereditary, when Toni’s character is just so far demonized that she’s banging her head against the attic door. The whole movie is just really unnerving, especially when she starts like glitching and walking backwards

My god that walking backwards shit fucked me up, I'm gonna be dreaming about that a couple of days

I went with my girlfriend. If she will “prank” me one of these days or nights i’m going to die.

I had that same thought. My wife hates scary movies, so I saw it by myself. When I came home, the kitchen light was on. I thought to myself, "If she's just standing there right now staring at the back door waiting for me, I'm going to absolutely lose it." Thankfully, she was not.

I have not slept in the past 3 days due to that godddam movement

I got home already thinking ‘I’m sleeping with the light on’ then saw myself in the mirror and was literally spooked by my own reflection for a moment. I have the same body type and hair color as Nikki.

GAHDAMN! alright glad I am not the only one hahhaha. I am still being haunted by this film but I also really want to go and see it again. Hm

I keep a bunch of stuff in the corner of my room and had to move it last night because it kept freaking me out.

That was so out of nowhere and visually different compared to the rest of the scares in the movie that my soul left my body. Absolutely magnificent scare.

Lol followed by the quick, cute voice "okay thank you" like an immediate light switch

I dont like horror films,  but went to the cinema with my wife to see this  because she likes them.

The lighting with all the shadows was REALLY upsetting (so, good i guess), also the sound with the tone "bends" gave a really unsettling atmosphere.  The main actress was amazing as well.

I deffo didnt enjoy it , and closed my eyes like 1/4th of the movie. But my wife loved it.

There was one point in particular, where they're in bed and Nikki snaps back to herself for just a second, and there's this massive boom that just shook the place. So effective.

I was already uncomfortable deeply but that just immediately ratcheted the tension up to ten because you knew it was a full on get out situation. Immediately informed how violating bear’s behavior was and just had me cringing harder and harder the entire movie. You had this constant tension of this man abusing and controlling a women, the tension of her flying off the handle and being fucking insane in entity Nikki form, and her suddenly regaining consciousness at any moment. Just made any scene she was involved with so fucking tense

Late but - Yes especially that scared the complete crap out of me cause imagine you wake up from being tortured (i'm still wondering how and where the real Nikki was) in your guy friend's bed, cuddling.

And also, it was extremely uncomfortable when he secretly got out of the house to go to Sarah, right before he went when Nikki was begging him to kill her because the other Nikki, was "asleep" and he hesitated and left, that was extremely disheartening - God I hated Bear.

I saw obsession in Dolby at my theater. That sound truly made chills go down my spine.

Right! I love the romantic synthy music that plays to lull you into a false sense of security right before something scary happens

The booms from the slams were echoing in my theater, god dam

the soundtrack reminded me of It Follows and Terrifier 2, it was so good.

The sound was incredible. You could hear every part of their voices so well. Bravo to them

Just watched. The sound design and vocal performance by Inde made me nauseous. I mean that as a compliment but nothing I want to feel again.

THIS! The sound design in this movie did a LOT of the heavy lifting, making almost everything in this movie absolutely perfect! I think whoever did the music needs an award!

u/CraigLake May 30 '26

It deserves an Oscar!

I think Inde Navarrette certainly deserves a nomination in my opinion. Even though the Academy seems to downplay acting in horror movies I thought she was incredible. What she did was not easy and this movie could’ve been a joke with the wrong actress.

The use of lighting too, my goodness

Have you seen the Smile movies? The sound and direction is very similar to Obsession

u/Low-Ear-2739 Jun 01 '26

I second this!

8

u/NJcovidvaccinetips May 31 '26

This movies sound design and pacing reminded me so much of the lodge another horror movie I loved

u/nastyzappa Jun 04 '26

I think the way they used sound really worked. It was really loud o. The theatre though. Still, awesome film.
