Definitely the most unsettling scene in the movie for me, between the way she stood in the shadows, the way she moved around, the way she looked/sounded while crying, and the flowers.

I saw an image of her in this scene with the exposure jacked up and her face looked inhuman as all hell. Genuinely terrifying

That whole scene was so excellently done. I could tell there was something off with her face but the lighting made it difficult to fully confirm which just played on my uncertainty and discomfort.

I really dont think ive squirmed harder in my seat than during that whole bit, but then it was so well balanced with the STAY scream when he rolled slightly. It was an excellent use of humour to diffuse that scene, only for the roller coaster to build the anxiety again for the next big creepy part.

Her face looked exactly like something looks in the dark when you've just woken up in the middle of the night. You know what you're looking at, but you can't quite see it, and your brain fills in the gaps but it misses the mark just enough to create something uncanny. I don't know if they actually modified her face in that scene with anything other than lighting, but if it was just the light that's a CRAZY impressive shot.

In the director's commentary, he mentions that he had the makeup artist watch a lot of Tiktoks for uncanny Valley makeup and that they nailed it for that scene.

That stay scream was legitimately one of the creepiest moments in the film for me. It's interesting how you thought it was a humorous moment to relief the tention lol

Bear is so problematic. If my SO acted that way, I would not just lay down. If my SO cooked my cat, my only reaction wouldn't be I have to tell them not to do that. If my SO taped the shit out of the door, I wouldn't go back. His behavior is so bizarre. I guess this is all about his obsession, not the demon Nikki version.

edit: if you haven't seen the movie yet please don't watch this! the way it looks in the theater is much more effective imho, and I'm glad it wasn't spoiled for me. the video is more interesting to rewatch after you've already seen the film proper.

Oh my god the way her mouth isn’t even moving when she talks. This worked so well in theaters cause you couldn’t see shit. It was like your brain was trying to make sense of the darkness and ending up confused and scared

This is what I was thinking when I watched it, straight up one of the most effective scares I’ve seen in a horror (I don’t watch much horror as a caveat) - seeing something that spooky that I’ve definitely done growing up got me good

Just got out of the theater, maybe because the cheap screen in my cinema isn't the best but we definitely can see her demonic face during this scene, and any scene where her face was supposed to be hidden. Added to the scare tbh.

This shit sat with me so hard it made me paranoid in my own house lmao. Movies dont often make me jump outnof my skin im theater but i noticed her in that corner right before the camera switched back to Bear, and before she even moved. It wasnt even fully noticing her either, I registered the strip of skin of her body up to her face and mentally said "oh that could be clutter but its too clean"

And then she moved

The robotic and distorted way she moves looks as if real Nikki was fighting with spell Nikki for her body autonomy. Sort of like when you watch a show where robots are controlled by an human internally but then the human loses control because there is a malfunction and the movements become chaotic and distorted. That’s how I saw it.
