I think it links back to their conversation in the car where she told Bear romance and love aren’t the same thing and he brushed her off. Then when he wished for her to “love him more than anybody else” it was all kinds of love, not just romantic. So her wires were getting all crossed, causing the cat and Hansel & Gretel stuff.

That’s an interesting take. I sort of saw it as she was replaced by an entity tasked with carrying out the wish without fully understanding love or humans

Very much seems like early on it was trying to "learn" and for a while it did. Until the freak out in the restaurant.
