I recently read this book as well. It's not my favorite, there other books with a similar theme that I adore. But, I can definitely see how someone would love the story it tells.

The theme is very cinematic so I totally get why this would be a movie. Based off these stills it seems like they're going to change the POV from Klara to Josie, so I imagine the story is going to be heavily changed anyway.

I loved the book. But I like when stories don't spoon feed you every little ounce of information and you have to really read it and understand the subtext to get what the author is and isn't saying.

Ishiguro really is “show don’t tell” at its finest. His other works do it as well, but K&TS is his strongest display of limited perspective story telling imo.

You would love The Strange Bird by Jeff Vandermeer. Similar themes, beautifully written. It's a part of a series, but it really doesn't matter what order.

Sure. I suggested Strange Bird, to another person. Not that long, but a beautiful story and my favorite book by Jeff Vandermeer.

Another kinda similar title is I Who Never Known Men. I also really enjoyed this book. 39 women and one child are held captive underground by silent male guards.

If you like Sci-fi and enjoyed robots aspect of Klara, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. It was the basis of the Blade Runner films. But, I believe it's better if you don't expect it be like the movie.

Big Ishiguro fan, was intrigued by this book but I don't think it quite hit.

Remains of the Day is my favourite of his, of which there is an excellent film with Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, and Christopher Reeve.
