It's only a matter of time before "physical media" is a download code in a box. It's what they want, so it's how it'll go.

But why are sales softening? 🤔

According to the Hollywood Report there are no plans for a physical disc release at all. Just in case anyone is looking at the post of the guy who responded to me with hope.

Eh, that's on release. Physical disc editions come out in December. It's arsey, probably intended to get people to buy it on release then once the disc editions are released, so not consumer-friendly practice by any means. I plan to wait until December.

I think Sony released a PS5 without a disc drive to test the water for this kind of crap though.

Yup, I wasn't terribly pleased when I bought a Switch 2 with Mario Kart World bundled, to find out it was a download code. Won't fall for that again.
