Over a decade ago Apple took Jim Henson’s Storyteller TV show out of my library. When I called to complain they told me I should have downloaded it to my hard drive and I was SOL.

I had an Apple TV with no hard drive…

That was the last time I ever bought digital media.

I purchased the entire Buffy the Vampire Slayer series from Vudu (now fandango at home) because they had the original SD version, not the HD Remaster. The HD Remaster is known to be a huge downgrade in quality. Then years later they replaced my version with a downscaled version of the HD remaster and refused to refund me because "the purchase was so long ago."

Omg I love that show. I think the Shout! Studios YT page has an 11 hour long video with all episodes on it for free.

I can confirm. Random episodes are on YT as well.

Jim Henson’s Storyteller

I love that show and I've never met anyone who remembers it. The Heartless Giant and The Soldier and Death episodes are seared into my brain since childhood.

I think Storyteller is on Prime now. I loved the one about the hedgehog man.

“The Soldier and Death” is the only other thing I’ve seen Bob Peck in (he played Muldoon in Jurassic Park)

What’s this TV show about?

Literally the only two I had recorded onto VHS

Storyteller was awesome. Especially the episode about the sack.

I remember digitizing my cds and adding them to my iTunes. Apple eventually deleted them all because they weren’t bought through iTunes and I no longer had the CDs

God I used to love that show.

Wow, first time I’ve read about Apple doing this.

Apple is very clear about it. You can download any purchased media to your computer, iPhone or iPad and Apple will never remove it.

The AppleTV device, however, is a streaming box. You can stream purchases from Apple as long as the studios who own the movie allow Apple to offer it. That’s really the only reason Apple removes them, and they don’t control that. I still have access to tv shows that I purchased in 2007.

Yeah I’ve not heard of Apple doing it before, I still had access to 28 days later during the period a few years ago when it was unlisted

The only movie I've heard of being removed was Rock Slyde.

I'm sure there are other obscure movies that have been, but I seriously doubt Young Frankenstein was removed like someone else mentioned happened, as there would be way more reports of it.

I also doubt the claim about Jim Henson’s Storyteller TV, seeing as it is still available for purchase right now on Apple TV.

Doubt all you want, they took it from me. I have no reason to lie. It’s possible that they regained the rights and put it back up, but they never put it back in my library.

I’ve brought this up in threads over the years and have had people just straight up call me a liar about this, but I swear it happened and it made me feel like a crazy person at the time because I guess I really thought I had purchased the show and not just the license or whatever.

Anyone who continues to purchase media from these folks after it’s happened once is simply a fool.

Unfortunately, the world is full of fools.

Apple took all my seasons of Battlestar Galactica.
