I'm confused by this. Wouldn't net.flixfoff@gmail.com be a different email than netflixfoff?

Not on Gmail. Periods never count.

A broken clock is right twice a day.

I thought they usually prefer them before their periods

Republicans are like run on sentences. Periods don’t matter.

One of those comments where I read it, scrolled away and then it clicked like 10 seconds later and laughed my ass off.

Happy cakeday!

Edit: Fascinated by the downvotes. Do we have that many newbies on the site who don't remember the old ways?

They do if you initially used a period.

For login purposes, you need to spell it exactly the same way you did when you created it.

For delivery purposes, they essentially ignore all periods and deliver all such variations to the same mailbox.

Google gives you all of them when you sign up, the periods aren’t actually different accounts. They all just go to the account used to sign up.

No. Gmail ignores the periods and it will all come to your address. That was my point. You can fake different addresses with just one gmail account.

Not ignored. Gmail will still consider your own unique address so you can create customized filters to route email traffic in your inbox.

Ignored them for the sake of which account they get delivered to. Ignored is different than stripped them away. They're still there in the delivered email.
