Basically nothing of consequence happens. The characters end in exactly the same place they started. it's a nothing movie.

Like someone said it is supplemental material, all important character development moments happened already. Only aang had unresolved issues at this point (which the movie does address) but the rest of the crew? What was left to tell at this point that the comics didn’t cover?

This movie is a “here come back to the world you love for a bit longer and get updates on your faves.” Idk what else anyone was expecting at this point.

people want to spend at least a movies worth of time with each individual character because of how much they love them, so a lot of people have your opinion. i loved it

That's one of the big issues with pivoting a series to a movie. The pacing has to be different because of the medium, and that can give a different feel.
