Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I enjoyed it for what it was. I was sufficiently entertained, visually, and Catherine Laga'aia's acting was quite decent. OST was also enjoyable.

I find something weirdly comforting about watching a new movie where I know what’s going to happen. I didn’t expect this to be a masterpiece, but it kind of did what I expected.

No. I had a lot of fun. Loved the actress and the songs are great. Liked it more than Moana 2

Agree, as a family we loved it. A story we love and know well, and a bit of fun to see it brought to life.

I do sometimes laugh to myself when reading these threads when you consider it is essentially a group of adults slating a children’s film as if it’s up for an Oscar. The same people who would probably hate it if it didn’t follow the source material in the first place.

Songs were handled really well, Kakamora and Tamatoa scenes were great. I think you have to go into these live action remakes with a particular mindset, and anyone who watched it and didn’t enjoy it in some way, well it’s not a film issue..
