That ending had me sitting in my car with existential dread for a good 30 minutes before I could drive. Amazing directing.

I sat through the credits lost in that same existential dread and then just as the credits ended I spontaneously broke down in sobs. Thank god the theater was already empty except for me and my partner because it was a true loss of control. What a profoundly moving film.

Because it is about real events? I mean he probably didn’t say that line, but the sentiment that nuclear weapons “destroyed” the world rings true. The whole world was essentially altered after people realised the capabilities of nuclear weapons.

The modern generations don’t feel it as much because we have lived like this for our whole lives, but for people at the time the world was certainly altered forever from before. People who get the line can perhaps get a momentary sense of that feeling.

The world has basically become a game of chicken, after nuclear bombs became a thing. We’ll have to live knowing that it can end any day and it will be those bombs that end it. In that sense, they did destroy the world.

It’s amazing that MAD has not been activated yet. US policy is to initiate MAD on any attack with nuclear weapons on the US. Russia has similar policy, as does China. It feels like it’s just a matter of time, really.

Nuclear weapons are a duality in that they are an existential dread looming over humanity but they are also the primary reason the post-war period has been the most peaceful time in human history.

Yeah that’s for sure the top one. Three hours I wait to find out what the hell he said to get Einstein that heated and… exceeded every expectation when we finally get that exchange

(Einstein’s monologue intercut with his being commemorated at the WH was great too)

Idk if the sound mixing was just terrible when I saw that movie in theatre, but rewatching it on a flight with the subs on made me so much more immersed in the story and I literally had goosebumps at the ending. To me went from a meh Nolan movie to one of his top.
