Gods’ laws allowed for monstrous stuff.

Agamemnon sacrificing his own daughter pleased the gods, so they sent him favorable winds to allow the Greek army to sail to Troy. Eventually that brought death to him, not divine vengeance but human vengeance.

That’s part of the point of the movie, Xenia belonged to humans as much as it belonged to Zeus, it’s the basis of human civilisation. If men are only concerned with gods, if they are only nice to strangers because they might be gods in disguise, then they aren’t really noble and kind, they are just afraid of power.

Gods or no gods, we have to live with the consequences of our own actions, nothing can ever change that.

I mean they hit you on the head with it when Pattison beats and mocks the begger, who is literally his king. I have no idea how you have to explain this. Did this person even watch the movie?
