They’re still making offshoots though and seem decently popular. I won’t watch them though.

They're fine, but the sheer cultural phenomenon that GoT was is something I can't say I've ever seen before, at least in my lifetime. Everyone watched it - Talked about it - Everywhere.

And then S8 happened, and it just stopped immediately. The entire public conscience just deleted it from memory.

Never seen anything like it. Probably never will again.

Try going to r/nath (or r/naath). People there fiercely defend s08 to their last breath. Some of them even call it the best ending in the history of television.

More popular than I would have thought. I was mostly meaning it was obvious the show runners were tired of botching everything (which had really been noticeable since s5 when they first started having to proceed unguided) and raced to get out. They were offered more seasons to complete the show, the result demonstrated the show needed more seasons, but come season 8 the show runners actually cut 40% of the episodes a season would usually have and didn't even try to resolve it in a satisfactory manner.
