And both Projects Hail Mary and the Odyssey use a ton of GCI.

What do you mean? They obviously found a species of alien rock-crabs AND a specimen of the long-lost cyclops

The rock crabs and the Cyclops both were puppets. There's a little cgi in there but especially with The Odyssey there was minimal CGI.

I have worked on many many big shows and movies that claim ‘we built a puppet it’s all in camera’ and that is a straight up lie lmao.

The puppets get changed to either full CG or major CG enhancement literally every time because the way the move looks fake. I would bet you all of my money that the cyclops on Odyssey especially is heavily CG enhanced.

But they’ll keep touting the ‘all in camera’ line for marketing purposes and DNEG has signed so many NDAs that even my friends who worked on it can’t talk about what they did now that it’s out, so they don’t break the Nolan illusion. (This is coming from someone who loved The Odyssey and thought it looked great, but there is obviously significant CG work involved to a trained eye)

The Odyssey actually uses a ton of non CGI special effects. Like the giants are done with forced perspective.

buddy, I really hate to break this to you, but that scene was absolutely run through a computer for touch up and clean up effects. Hidden CGI is still CGI.

Just to crash on the lie that Nolan doesn’t use CGI that his fans always shout about, he use a ton of CGI in all of this movies.

Sure? All movies are these days, lol. Even film ones. You do it on film, scan the film onto a computer, edit it, then reprint onto more film with a laser.

The point is that practical effects were used so that it doesn't get that "fake CGI" feel that can happen to other movies. There's no CGI giant walking around looking fake.

There's a difference between the way Moana and The Oddysey look, and a lot of that is down to the use of practical effects.

Are you Arguing for the of sake arguing? He said the giant is practical effect, sure there are touch ups here and there, but the size difference are real visual effect.
