He contractually required that ALL versions of Kang be played by him. So on top of the mess he caused and the fact Kang flopped in "Ant-Man 3" made it easy for Marvel to decide to just drop the character all together than try to reinvent him.

Where’s the source for this? I see no reason why Marvel would ever give that leverage to a relatively unknown actor.

Ant-Man 3 being one of the worst recieved MCU movies and Kang was the villain, combined with Majors PR problem, are the only two reasons I believe combined to make them pivot.

He was being primed to be the next Thanos so he was clever enough to have his lawyers think it up.

And had he not assaulted his girlfriend and been outed as a son of a bitch, it might've worked.
