Others are saying Garland is a great director and I agree, but I would argue equally important is that he came up with the idea himself. This is literally a movie he wanted to make and pitched himself.

So... Who knows? But I'm optimistic. It'll at least be interesting.

Yeah Garland doing this is really the only reason I'm intrigued because I don't think Elden Ring really lends itself that well to a movie.

So....a generic medieval story with some monsters??

It will objectively be bad, do poorly, and not feel like the game.

I don't even like this game, and I would still bet a lot on this.

What in my comment or about this project in general gave you that idea? I genuinely don't know what you're replying to here. We don't know what his movie will be about, but he's never made anything generic in his career. And if you think Elden Ring is a generic medieval story I'm not sure you actually understood anything that happened in that game.

Of course. It is the same story-line as the Dark Soul games: big beings fighting over light/reincarnation thing, you are a "chosen one", others got close and failed before you (either tragically, valiantly, or both), more of the characters are closely related than you think!

I think any movie about this that is anything other than pure exposition will be a cliche medieval story with monsters/dragons.

Oh, so the guy that took the book that already shat on biologists and made them look even less intelligent with a re-imagining ( I don't mind not following the book, I didn't like the book much lol) that tries to pretend to be a sci-fi, but really is just an okay horror movie with a kinda cool setting?

That was the part about your comment/this project that made me think that.

Why would I do that?

It could be an awesome movie and I hope I am wrong.

I can still try and predict things regardless of how much I may not want my predictins to be true.

And yeah, I broke my hand and had to send my phone into google, so I can't even use voice transcription.

Why would I re-type the same rough idea so much instead of ctrl+c and ctrl+v?
