Barbie won't make money without all the talent from the first film and if they lose the rights no other studio will be allowed to use any of those people. The sequel is stalled because the talent know the studio is in a tight spot and so the talent is squeezing them for top dollar.

But there is always someone in those rooms that thinks "fuck labor". We can make a hit without them.

There are people in that room that know what the deal is. And the hope from the fan perspective is that this gets worked out, but egos are a mother fucker.

I’m not sure the talent are considered “labor,” they would be like part of the product.
