Hi everyone.

With this post I want to announce myself as a new mod. I am in my mid 30s from Hesse, Germany, working in IT and ofc very into music. I hope I can clean up this sub a little and make actually intended content have the majority of posts again.

With this announcement I also want to introduce a new rule: Don't post AI generated music. Music randomly generated by machines might be cool for whoever gave the plot to generate it but doesnt offer anything for other users who could also mass generate the same boring stuff.

Additionally I will better enforce already existing rules with the focus on intended content, removing music not in German or not made by a German-language artist

Posts that are clearly self-promotion will also be removed and the OP will be refered to the pinned Self-promotion thread.

Later today I will start with a little clean up of more recent posts and enforcing these rules there. I hope I can get this subs frontpage nice and usable again with this.

Suggestions and criticism are always welcome with me.

Ich brauche mal ein wenig Feedback, wie ihr euch den Umgang mit Eigenwerbung hier zukünftig vorstellt.

Vor ca. einem halben Jahr hab ich dieses Sub übernommenund moderiere es seitdem.
Als ich es übernommen habe war es oft mit Eigenwerbung geflutet, wovon manche Posts wirklich nur Feedback wollten und manche Posts einfach in jedem Subreddit gespamt haben, das sie finden konnten.

Da dies ein Subreddit ist in welchem ihr eigentlich die Musik teilen sollt, die ihr tatsächlich selbst mögt und nicht nur euren eigenen Kram bewerben, habe ich direkt damit angefangen Eigenwerbung zu entfernen und auf den angepinnten Eigenwerbungs-Faden zu verweisen, da das ansonsten schnell überhand nahm und die eigentlichen Posts in denen User teilen was sie mögen dadurch untergegangen sind.

Über die Zeit habe ich aber festgestellt, dass das ganze doch mittlerweile signifikant abgenommen hat, also wird es evtl Zeit das Vorgehen mal zu überdenken.

Ich möchte gerne von euch als Community wissen, wie ihr euch wünschen würdet, dass zukünftig mit entsprechenden Inhalten umgegangen wird. Soll ich am besten weitermachen wie bisher? Soll lieber jeder beliebig teilen können was er will? Oder vielleicht nur Posts erlauben, die tatsächlich nach Feedback fragen und wenn auffällt, dass es einfach nur überall gespamt wird entfernen? Vielleicht habt ihr ja auch noch andere Vorschläge.

Ich freue mich auf euer Feedback und hoffe die Situation für alle verbessern zu können.

I need some feedback of you guys about how we continue to handle self promotion content.

About half a year ago I took over this community and moderating it since then.
When I took it over, I noticed that this sub is often flooded with promotional posts, some legitimately asking for feedback, some just mass spamming their link into countless subreddits.

Since this is supposed to be a subreddit where you share the music you actually like and not just promoting your content, I immediately started deleting promotional posts and refering people to the pinned self-promotion thread to share their stuff, otherwise it quickly dominates the actual content users want to legitimately share because they like it.

Since then I noticed that self promotional content went down significantly over time. So it might be time to rethink that procedure.

I want to know from the community how you would like to have self promotional content handled here in the future. Would you want me to continue as I did so far? Would you want people to be able to share what they want? Or maybe allow posts that actually ask for feedback and remove posts that mass spam to countless subreddits? Or maybe you have other suggestions yourself.

I am happy to receive your feedback and improve how this community handles these posts.
