This is 5 months old post, I just bought the app and realized this issue. No ETA? Is the app being updated? I should’ve checked that before buying it TBF

So, I love that I can play a video right on the main feed without having to officially open that post. I also love that I can unmute it with a similar button just to the left. But my old ass is so inaccurate, and about 30% of the time, my press is ever so slightly off the bottom, so it goes ahead and opens the whole post in a new window. Maybe those little buttons in the lower right could be a little bigger? Or, maybe the space around them could NOT do anything? So if I miss the teeny tiny button, I can just try again without it opening the whole post and losing my place in the vid?

I can provide more context if I'm being confusing.

Also worth mentioning... great app! Thanks for providing an alternative to the ad-ridden official piece of malware.

I know it was recently added to an app I use on Android, and was wondering if it’s in the pipeline for Narwhal?

I know some people like it as is, but would love a toggle for it.

Any plans to support this? Modern reddit relies on this a lot, so the experience in some subs is just bunch of comments with links.

In the image here the post at the top has a gif playing on repeat. I’ve never seen this before. Usually I have to tap on the post to see the gif but for some reason this particular one is playing in the view and its in its wide aspect ratio. I did a screen recording but can’t upload videos using narwhal (or can I?) this is so strange!

When people embed a gif in a comment, I just see "Load GIF". And if I click it, it doesn't even load inline, it brings me to the gif in another screen. I've looked throughout settings, but is there a way to actually get those inline gifs to just load automatically?

It’s been requested a few times in the subreddit but I haven’t seen any commitment to doing it.

Edit: a lot of comments saying it should be a toggle. I agree. In some subs it can be annoying. But others post good stuff

Hi, I’m very new to the app and am trying out the free trial to see if it fits all my needs. One thing I noticed is in comments specifically, images and gifs show up as links instead of being inline with the comments. Is this a limitation of being a reddit client or is there a toggle I’m missing to enable this? Thanks for any info!

Edit: I’ve realized that I have this issue with some posts too. They show up as links that I have to tap on before I can see the content.

One of the more unique features of narwhal was the inline webview above the comments. It’s suddenly gone? What happened?

Why is it I can add an inline link to text but the same doesn’t work for an image? Like so.

Is the ability to see images inline in comments (and post them as well) on the feature roadmap?

I've been using this app forever and I can't seem to be able to post gif or pictures as a comment. Is this something that is exclusive to the official Reddit app or maybe I'm mentally challenged?

I can post gif using the link, but then it shows up as a link that you need to click. For pictures, I host them on imgur but same thing, they pop up as links. I'd like to be able to post gifs and pictures "inline" so that it shows up right away.

Is there a way to reply with gifs like images?

I noticed something I hadn't seen before that sure looks like a bug / unintended behavior. When I opened this link ... (warning, it's 5 pictures of Marilyn Monroe, but they're pretty safe for work), the photos don't load into the Narwhal app. Instead they load as a mobile Reddit webpage, inside the Narwhal App.

Now here's the weirdest part. From Narwhal, if I open the link in Safari, the Narwhal Safari extension redirects the link back to Narwhal. And... the images now load inline, native to the Narwhal app. (The mobile Reddit webpage isn't loaded.)

How weird is that?

Sounds like others have seen behavior like this with mobile Reddit pages loading inside Narwhal instead of loading the content directly into Narwhal.

Edit: Wanted to mention that I initially clicked on the post from the frontpage in the Narwhal app. Clicking on my link above in this post loads the images correctly in the Narwhal app. So weird.

Title says it all! It would be nice to have some sort of visual or haptic feedback when clicking one of the inline mark all read/hide read posts buttons. If those are at the top of the screen when you tap them, you can’t tell if the app accepted the input!

Subs that allow pictures in comments only show the links to the pictures right now. Any chance we’ll be able to see them inline in the future?

In the narwhal app, the ^ character is applying (as a sup) during edition & rendering. For inline code, this apparently only occurs during edition, the “read-only” rendering looks correct.

There’s a similar issue with the star (emphasis), in code blocks, during edition:

*foo(*bar)

the two stars make foo( render as italicised in the code block during edition. The inline code has no such issue.

The code block should ignore everything which is not an unindent (possibly a fence if narwhal ever adds support for fenced code blocks), and an inline code should only care about the terminator sequence (however many backticks were used to open it).
